2. Long-Distance Dean’s Date
Not actually about being abroad. A video in which I pretend I was on campus for Dean's Date. I don't know if I actually have a point, but I have many thoughts. I might just keep talking about nationalism in the next video, since I have the clips from the British Museum now. It’s just been something I’ve been thinking about a lot.

On this day in 2000, it was Princeton University sophomore Liz Lapetina '02's misfortune to have one of the usually-beloved campus squirrels break into her dorm room and urinate on her computer keyboard the day before Dean's Date (the deadline for submitting all written work at the end of the semester). Jon Harris '02 was inspired to illustrate this moment in this cartoon for the Daily Princetonian.
I will finish this essay within the next half hour
and then work on that one due at 5pm
and then run up the hill to turn it in
and then cry
and then work on a late submission for the one due t 3pm

Dean's Date Struggs
O Jesus, people are going crazy this deans date. I'm in this library writing my paper, and this guy screams for a good 30 seconds. My first reaction was "these crazy people, let me get out of here". But then I came to my senses, laughed, and realized ehh it's deans date. The struggs are real..
And that's my story for the night.

At midnight on Princeton's 'Dean's Date' (the day when all written assignments were due), lots of people would gather in a courtyard and scream. Just primal yelling of frustration and angst.
Apparently undergrads do that here at Columbia as well. As I was sitting here, slaving away over this sorry excuse of a Property outline, I found the sound of communal undergraduate screams and suffering oddly comforting.
