Hello my beautiful fandom! Here I'm a need this DESTIEL meta bc I'm so so excited!

So the last episode we saw, was a reminder from Regarding Dean, plus 14x05 and mostly 14x06 (Optimism). There was a mixture between healing Dad's issues and choices: Original Family and the Family you made and also Toxic Love vs True Love.

Before you started to read this I need you to read (if you want or have time) all the metas I wrote about Healing!Dean from the previous episodes, bc... I'm seeing now that my analysis from the first half of the season are so accurate with this second half. I could make a couple of spec that now are becoming true. So if you want to read it... I will divide my analysis in two maybe three parts, one is this Dean's meta/Destiel meta, and I will talk about John and the boys later.

Ok, let's do this!

A 4 years granted wish

Remember when I said in this meta, that Dean had his mother's image that he has when he was a kid? And he needed to make the duel of that image, and he did? This is quasi the same situation.

When Sam asked Dean why he made that wish, Dean said to him that this was the desire that always wanted in his heart since he has 4 years.

But... The question is... Is that what he really wanted? Or was what he really need? Close the door and leave John behind.

The thing here was... They needed to have this reunion to heal. Dean mostly, bc he has all that heritage in his heart. And bc he needed to hear his father said he was proud of him...

This 👆in 14x05, Dean projecting himself in Sam (as a leader) he said the words he needed to heard from his dad. This episode was a prelude to what will be coming. The chat between Sasha and Dean, in which Dean said LET IT GO, is so applicable to last night episode. You will need to read my meta about that episode here, bc I don't want to sound repetitive 🤣🤣.

Dean had a long list of Daddy issues, but he still was longing for him and for a family reunion, to be together, happy as they were before Yellow Eyes.

That's the wish from Dean's Innocent childhood heart, bc inside of him he knew... He need to forgive John Winchester and let him go.

What a 40 years old man wants

But when they saw (Sam and Dean) the consequences of that wish, they changes their minds.

Dean was wanted by the police, and Sam a kind of guru. They begin to think that wasn't a good idea and maybe they should reverse the wish.

But is more interesting how Dean was decided to definitely choose his family and his hunting life, after they saw that Castiel didn't know him

This was a huge heartbreaking feeling for Dean, he had lost his hunting life, and now, he had lost Castiel. And that, my friends, was the thing. Not doubts. He wouldn't allow to lose, not his life as a hunter, not his family, and he would never lose Castiel again.

That's the real desire/wish in Dean's heart. That's what he, as a 40 years old grown up man, wants for real. Just remember the last phrase he said in Regarding Dean.

If happiness was losing everything what they were or what they do, then... Dean didn't want it...

And Dean saying "I have a family" to his dad... Was huge... Bc he said so with such a melancholic face... He wanted his family back... And CAS back. And I sensed too... He was showing he wasn't a ladies man... He wants another things in his life...

So now... He choose, his Family and romantic love over John Winchester, and he forgive him, and he let him go.

And he heard from his dad the thing he needed to hear : "I'M SO PROUD OF YOU." And was huge too Dean used the "L" word again with John... "I love you too."

To conclude:

John Winchester arrived in the moment that Dean and Sam needed, grown up men, empathizing with his father's failures, forgiving him, and choosing their lives, family and friends, over him. A beautiful way to let this old scars healing.

A huge step for Dean in his Healing process, and now we have to continue the path to self acceptance and self love.

rewatching a lot of friends and diving into the Rachel/Joey tags always brings up one big issue for me

Rachel’s development and mental health

Because let’s be honest: the one thing we see with her over and over again is that she doesn’t really have control over her life, her choices etc. Not only because of the narrative shoehorning her into random situations which is off enough, but because of her background. Her family—especially her father—bossed her around a lot and took all the choices from her, which continued to be the narrative of her life until she took the initiative for the first time by running away from her wedding.

The entire first season (and part of the following ones) for Rachel was about her growing out of that helplessness and doing things on her own. But we still got glimpses of a girl who had never been taught to make her own choices. There is almost an entire episode dedicated to Monica, Phoebe and Rachel arguing over whether Rachel is a push-over, closing with the fact that, yeah she kind of is. Other episodes have her actively begging Monica to make choices for her because she doesn’t really know how to make (good) choices.

And knowing that makes Ross as her end-game SUCH a big red flag for me, because his entire persona is trying to control people in general but especially his girlfriends. And Rachel more than the others even. If we acknowledge the writers, I can only flip them off bc I have no words. If we don’t and pretend these are real people, hell, I can’t even blame Rachel for feeling drawn to that, because it’s what she knows, it’s what she is used to, that is comforting in a way, and it makes things easier. Easier than trying every day to break out of that habit and learn to be her own person throughout her adult life. 

On the other hand, we got Joey, who supported her. When he was asked for advice he helped her find a solution, occasionally stepped in to fight her battles and protect her, but as a person in general, and especially as Rachel’s friend/partner etc, he does not actually try to control her. He made her experience some new things, try things out herself, invited her to live in his world where you can drop pasta on the ground without anyone being mad at you, live a comfortable life etc. He let her bounce ideas off him but did not tell her what she has to do, unless it was a moral conflict of “you have to tell him the uncomfortable thing” they all preach from time to time. 

Plus, come on. When Rachel got pregnant, Joey stepped up instantly, proposed, ready to step in as father and husband, then beat himself up for falling for a friend who was with another friend, told Ross he could punch him and that he wouldn’t act on it because it’s not his place. He was ready to step back.

Meanwhile, Ross learned he was going to have a child, told Rachel off for going on a date once, but then instantly hopped into a date himself.

TL;DR fuck Ross, Rachel should have gotten with Joey and been happy

Hello my friends! Are you digesting the last episode? Me too... I just want to point the heavy symbolism of "Damaged Gods". First I thought this was a recoil of Dean's character, then I saw the picture... Dean is saying goodbye in such a pain... Giving up all his dreams. And that's sad...

Bc he was just there... He was about to sell the bar, but Michael blocked him.

This was his journey so far to coming out from the emotional prison.

So, remember in season 13 Dean saying this to Sam...

After recognize he couldn't live without Castiel, and after getting him back, the fear of loosing him again, dig inside him. He needs CAS bc he loves him. He is a man in love of his bestest male friend.

And I want to come back to "Mint Condition" again, remember the talk on Baby btw Sam and Dean about why Sam hated Halloween?? I wrote a short analysis about it, bc I noticed there Dean trying to figure out how Sammy would react if his big brother confess him what he feels for Castiel... Here is the mini meta.

This was very symbolic, and it was settled in 14x04. So I saw that and I said... Dean is preparing himself to go out from the closet?

And then we had the Bar, and that woman that came bc HE WAS INTERESTED IN SELLING THE BAR.

He WAS. But now is different...

An episode full of boxes, locks and captured people.

Well, even if this was blantant, I mean, it was obvious the episode was screaming about PRISON and PRISONERS.

Seeing the bar and the box, we can say Dean is a prison, and he will get inside another prison. His prisoner is Michael, but not just Michael but Dean . Dean is who built the bar in his head (His emotional prison) and he was who built the box for himself.

And is very blantant too that he did this in a garage full of sexy shirtless men and cowboys (obviously mirrors of CAS, or at least Dean's inner images of Castiel). This supports again the idea that during he was building this cage, he was thinking about Cas or more than that, he was doing it knowing his feelings, knowing that he was "interested in sell the bar", but now he can't do that... Bc humanity goes first, his risponsabilities as the BIG PROTECTOR goes first... This recalls the ending song in 14x06 "I know you love me but in your heart there's something before me."

The "L" word.

One of the most blantant facts about Dean's improvement of character was the use of the L word.

It was easy for him use it with his mom, bc is the first love confession a child has in his life, he confess love to his mom. So he did it. And it was a huge step.

Another big, huge improvement was Dean openly talking about love with Jack. So now, the "L" word isn't a foreign word for him, he is embracing it, and accepting it.

And now, in the last episode we had our sweet Hunter saying "I love you" to TFW, his family.

And again, Dean mentioned CAS for the first time in the episode, and it was the only time he was mentioned. And you can see in the back a poster with a shirtless man in blue jean, black short hair... Again... A Cas mirror.

So... Maybe it is time to Dean to say the "L" word to CAS. If he is in this fair well goodbye journey to his dead... Say I LOVE YOU but the GOODBYE.

"I don't have a choice"

And we already heard this words from Dean...

And it was a very bad choice.

When he was with CAS, he felt cornered, CAS couldn't change his mind. Dean was decided to do the sacrifice, bc he is the BIG PROTECTOR, he is the RIGHTEOUS MAN, the FIRST BORN that must take care of everyone.

And he is repeating the same story here... (Ouroboros, I'm seeing you guys)

And Sam, because he loves his big brother, and he respects him, he supports him in the decision, with the heart broken

But Cas, Cas isn't going to let Dean do this. We heard him in the promo. He is asking Dean to quit this suicidal plan. Because Castiel loves him, and he is what Dean really wants, he is HOPE, AND LOVE, AND SALVATION. AND HE IS SAYING DEAN DESERVES HAPPINESS, AND BEING LOVED. Castiel represents all that for Dean, he is the part of Dean that keeps fighting.

So Dean feeling cornered by his own bad decisions, this circle that never ends, I just hope he can break free from his own prisons, he built it from himself.

To conclude...

Dean was about to give the last step and break free, but he was blocked again for his own fears and toxicity (Michael).

Michael came to remind us that there's still a huge problem that must to be solved to break free from this emotional prison: JOHN WINCHESTER and his GUILT HERITAGE.

And Billie delivering him the ONLY ONE SOLUTION to win, it reminds me to Michael, and every villain trying to manipulate. Is she trying to help? Or just trying to erase two big problems AUMICHAEL and DEAN?

IDK, I just hope Dean can have THE TALK with Castiel, and maybe is time for our hunter to use the L word with his angel.

Dean's emotional prison

Healing!Dean vs Toxic!Dean

So we all in this fandom where talking about that bar when we supposed Dean is locked... Remember we were discussing a lot bf this season aired about Dean's emotional prison.

The EMOTIONAL PRISON is a concept i begin to elaborate when Dean was possesed by AUMichael. But in the first half of the season we didn't see a lot of it, bc Dean came back so soon, and we almost didn't have flashbacks from what AUMichael!Dean did, just a couple of it, so... We were expecting a little more.. well we will have that now with the second Possession and the entrance in Dean's mind.

Toxic!Dean rules the emotional prison

First of all, I want to share with you the first meta I wrote about Dean, bc this has relevance again...

Let's make a tour inside Dean's soul

In this meta I mentioned two things really importants...

I mentioned AUMichael locking Dean in his own emotional prison, place from which Dean needs to break free. And Qareen, the goddess that could see the darkest desires from the heart, talking about THE LOVE DEAN HAS INSIDE COCKLED IN SHAME.

Qareen was intrigued, she even asked Dean who he was, bc she couldn't read his darkest desires, bc Dean has it locked down, so so repressed, that not even this goddess could reach it. And the shame, the shame are those unbreakable wall Dean had built in this prison. What is he hiding?

I think with AUMichael is happening the same, he can't reach Dean's deepest desires or repressed feelings, and that's why he ignores the love that Dean feels for Cas and their PROFOUND BOND.

Ok so... I know this comparison was made for many people, bc we like to compare the few Archangel's and Angel's Possession we had...

So... Happy place?

Castiel... Winchesters kitchen...

Sam... In the bunker library.

But Dean...

... this is not a happy place... This is an EMOTIONAL PRISON. Toxic!Dean taking control of the situation? Maybe keeping Healing!Dean "drowning in alcohol and depression". THIS IS THE ONLY WAY FOR AUMICHAEL TO KEEP DEAN UNDER HIS CONTROL.

Parallels and how we can reach Healing!Dean in his mind

We will have two parallels here... That time when Dean reaches Mary in her mind... It was difficult bc Mary was ignoring him all the time, trying to live a lie. And Dean reached her through LOVE.

"I love you" sigh...

And the other parallel is the way Dean could wake up and break free from this prison... We have two examples...

Both of this Awakening are related with LOVE. FAMILY LOVE AND BROTHERHOOD.

So... We can say LOVE is what will wake up Dean. Following the evidence will be family ties. Memories...

But I believe won't be just that... As you already read y my "Liar Liar" meta... I truly believe Cas will have a huge intervention revealing what is Profound Bond for and his meaning.

The many scenarios we had representing Dean's emotional prison and mind

We were talking about Dean's mind or Dean is dreaming in the first half of the season with my friends @magnificent-winged-beast @emblue-sparks and @mrsaquaman187 , in fact was all a foreshadow for this moment...

Here you have the meta about it.

So... This dark rooms we were seeing in the majority of the episodes from the first half of the season, are part of the emotional prison, things that Dean had repressed, John Winchester is the most heavy issue to solve and the GUILT HERITAGE too.

He was doing great LEARNING HIS LESSONS and healing. But now... Michael has it again... He thinks he broke him... But I truly believe he doesn't. Dean Winchester will resurface from his ashes helped by Sammy and Castiel.

In conclusion:

The emotional prison and the walls are things that we build by ourselves. We are the ones that locked ourselves inside of that and we are the only ones that can break free from that.

The key for Dean to break his walls and prison is through FAMILY/BROTHERHOOD BOND/LOVE as we saw in Cas and Sam possessions, but this time in Dean's case we will need that LOVE HE KEEPS CLOCKED IN SHAME that resides inside of him, this PROFOUND BOND with Castiel... and we need Sammy here for helping them...

...as he gave the advice to Mary (mirroring Cas) to talk with AUBobby, and try to break this walls and figure out what was going on in the depth of his mind and soul...

And by the end of the episode Mary was healing AUBobby physically and symbolically, taking care of his wounds, and his soul.

This is what I want to happen people, Sam and Cas reaching Dean... And by the end of the journey... I want THE TALK that the writers were foreshadowing ... (I believe) in the first half of the season. And Healing!Dean breaking free from his emotional prison!

As I said... Dean is the first born here, and carry with a big, big baggage, he feels he must fulfill all of John's expectations. And not doing it, is what generates in him this HUGE GUILT inside of him... Look at this...

John Winchester WAS A LOVELY FATHER AND A SWEET MAN WITH HIS CHILDREN bf the tragedy hit his family...

When Mary died burned by Azazel, he switched to soldier mode, and this...

This was the beginning of Dean's legacy as FIRST BORN : "TAKE CARE OF SAMMY".

After this traumatic situation John Winchester had just one thing in his head: to Hunt and Kill Azazel. There wasn't place for this sweet father. There wasn't time for being a father at all, so Dean, as first born, took his place. Immediately, obedient as the FIRST BORN SHOULD BE. He did that, without complains. Bc "When your father gives you an order, you obey."

So John Winchester... He was tough, RIGHTEOUS and intransigent. He treated Dean as a soldier. He tried to do the same with Sammy (that's why I don't think he was soft with Sammy at all) but Sam is different, he doesn't carry with this RIGHTEOUS AND INFLEXIBLE heritage, Sammy rejected all that, he wanted his own path, his own life out of the hunting. Like the rebellious son.

So John found in Sam his flaws as father, he made John confronting with himself. And the GUILT FOR NOT FULLFIL THE PLACE AS A NORMAL FATHER WITH HIS CHILDREN MUST BE ONE OF THE MOST HEAVY BAGGAGE HE HAD TO CARRY.

This GUILT is transmitted unconsciously to his obedient son, DEAN IS WHOM CARRY NOW WITH THE GUILT EVERYTIME HE FEELS HE CAN'T FULLFIL THAT IMAGE OF RIGHTEOUS, PROTECTOR AND INFLEXIBLE MAN HE SHOULD BE AND JOHN WINCHESTER IS WAITING FOR HIM TO BE.

And all of this...

This is GUILT HERITAGE.

And I can't wait to see how Dean will work on this ENORMOUS IMPEDIMENT he has for loving himself in the next episode.

But... Why John Winchester was different with Adam??

And the answer is the same we were talking in this post... GUILT.

He saw in Adam an opportunity to do things right. TO BE THAT FATHER HE COULDN'T BE WITH SAM AND DEAN. He didn't need to train this kid for hunting. He really didn't want that too. He could do thing right with this kid. That's why he was the lovely father he shouldn't have stop to be. This was like an alternative universe for John Winchester... Maybe a kind of Oasis where he could play to be a normal father. We can't blame him for that, I guess...

That's why Dean didn't understand this, but Sam did. Bc it was Sam who wanted this kind of normal life too.

... Dean understands Sasha and project himself on her... She said something very interesting here, she said that when she was a child she admired her father, but then she saw... "He wasn't the best person." This is Dean talking here. And he just has to forgive John and move on... "Let it be" bc you can't change the past... But you can do something for your present.

WHY DEAN FEELS FEARS AND SHAME?

Ok... I want to follow an order here, I will take all your questions by one.

About kids with problems

You know kids that don't have a good contention from his family at home, used to look for scape. Not all the kids... And I want to talk about the seed bc, when people judge this kind of seed immediately think about the bad seed from their parents, and yes family is where the kids learn about sociability. How to interact with the others. Sometimes is a disfunctional family, and consequences are all what you did described, including violence too. But we don't have to condemned this kids to a dark future... We should help them to re-learn about good values and good interactions. Show them love and kindness, is the best way.

Now... There's Hope for every kid with troubles, they just need feeling loved and live themselves too.

About Dean's childhood

Dean is a sweet man bc he was a sweet kid all the way, but he has this huge and heavy baggage on his shoulder "HE IS THE BIG BROTHER" And with a dead mother and an absent exacting and righteous father, he felt all the responsibility on his back... And he has to take care of his little brother, so... Yeah very hard childhood.

And Sam, Sam represented and represents his home, his relief, his constant love, safe love, safe place. What wouldn't do Dean for his little brother?

This was Dean's childhood 👆

And he finished saying "It wasn't fair."

That explains his "criminal" behavior bc he has to feed his little brother, he was responsible for him, bc he was the father and the mother of that little brother.

And the hunting, to kill monsters and been a child at the same time, and the pain, for loosing his mother, and his father pain too, transformed in this kind of revenge and anger.

Yes he has Bobby and that could be for him a relief in this role, and Bobby couldn't be the most talkative person, but he was a good person, with good values.

But how Dean could go through all this crap and become a good and sweet man as he is? Not forgetting he has his issues, the way he handle trauma, repressing everything that he thinks is not suitable with this "macho Man toxic masculinity" idea about how a Patriarch should be, that John transmitted him and he left that rule his life. We will talk about it later, but yes, he is a sweet and kind man with kids and with friends and Sammy so... Why he has this inside him after all this hard childhood? I have to say bc the childhood image of Mary he has in his head. Remember when he and Sam were in Heaven? Dean has this memory about his mother with him in the kitchen. She was sweet with him, preparing him a sandwich, she was dedicated and lovable. Dean had this image from his mother.

TOXIC MASCULINITY AND FIRST BORN LEGACY.

So he was like that raising Sammy. And he's still like that with everybody's that he feels that need to be protected. He is the big brother, who must protect his little brother. He's the big protector. And he is the FIRST BORN. So so hard for him, bc he has to lead with respect rules, and legacy his father left him. Bc he is the FIRST BORN OF THE RIGHTEOUS MAN, so he must be RIGHTEOUS AS HIS FATHER. And this is something that every FIRST BORN will understand... I'm a first born and in my head there's this UNBREAKABLE RULES that I MUST FOLLOW AND IMPART to the others. Is like a huge SUPER-ME that are judge me all the time.

In Dean's John's voice is the JUDGE THAT CONTROLS EVERY MOVEMENT HE DOES AND EVERY SINGLE THOUGHT JUDGING HIM AND PUNISHING HIM. He has to learn that this voice is just him... And tried to asume HE HAS TO BE HIM, AND NOT WHAT OTHERS (JOHN) WAITED OR ARE WAITING FOR HIM TO BE.

So AUBobby in 14x05 was mirroring John, THE JUDGE and Dean was projecting himself all the time in Sam as leader, as protector, as Patriarch.

That's why too Dean was defending his brother's actions from AUBobby and greeting Sam, he was doing what he would expect his father did for him. He was saying Sam the words he would love to hear from his father. YOU DID GREAT DEAN, RAISING AND TAKING CARE OF YOUR BROTHER. YOU DID GREAT.

Dean's Fears and Shame

And not fullfil this toxic image about the "macho Man Patriarch, righteous protector man" he has in his head and comes to haunt him every single time is one of his fears. A big one, I must said. In the last episode he was projecting himself too in Sasha, so when they were talking about dad issues, he said this to her...

And this is telling me that Dean is working about his traumas and working hard and trying to grow up and be the New Dean.

Fears and shame to the "L" word... And here I have to bring Destiel bc is huge for Dean and it is a worry that haunt him too all the time.

"I can see the love that is inside you but is cockled in shame." Qareen, the godess who could read the darkest desires.

Why shame? Why fear to love? Bc that toxic image from himself that IS NOT HIM reprove this kind of love. THIS TOXIC AND WRONG MACHO MAN IMAGE HE HAS INSIDE MAKE HIM REPRESS THIS LOVE HE HAS FOR CASTIEL.

Bc Castiel is an angel and bc Castiel is a man. And bc Castiel is his best friend. THE JUGDE WON'T APROVE IT.

And bc DEAN MUST LEARN TO LOVE HIS TRULY SELF FIRST AND AFTER THIS HE WILL BE ABLE TO SHOW HIM AS HE IS AND LOVE WITHOUT ATTACHMENTS, FEARS OR SHAME.

And he must learn he is just a man, he had make mistakes but he must MOVE ON AND DON'T HATE HIMSELF FOR THAT.

LEARN THAT HE IS LOVED BY SAM, MARY, CAS, JACK, AND HE IS WORTH IT.

To conclude, and sorry bc it was large 🤣, Dean must REBORN FROM HIS ASHES and he's doing it... Let's see what happens at the end of his journey.
