i’ve been thinking about this for days because it’s such a thorny ship but aghhh. at no point does Dean treat Adam with any,,, familiarity? affection? during jump the shark, he treats adam like any other civilian + a whole lot of projected dadresentment…and yet there’s this:

because I think Dean’s apologies are generally useless I don’t think these mean very much. but I do think they mean something. I don’t think Dean has room in his heart for more than one brother and yet,

so it’s like. that’s his brother. that means something to Dean. not very much. not more than the world that sam means to him. there’s no timeline where dean carries adam out of the beautiful room over sam. Adam represents just so many things, lack of brotherly past aside: John’s failings, John’s lack of love, Dean’s perceived shortcomings, Dean’s raging jealousy for the life Adam got,,,,,, there are eleven years between them and a whole ocean of resentment that can’t be crossed.

but maybe if I were to think about deanadam, the crux of it would be the guilt. the apology. the knowledge that dean picked sam over him twice. they’re not really brothers and never really could have been. maybe they can be something else.

Sam definitely would be horrified on seeing it from an outside prospective, but he's even more horrified that he has to watch Dean fuck someone who isn't him into submissive. It would be so jarring to him. Dean is so rough and it looks uncomfortable and Sam kind of knows that it is but it's also always good, Sam gets off on it now and so his brain is confused between being turned on and off at the same time. Nevertheless it should be him that takes it, not his little brother - the one they hadn't protected until now and Sam would start with this
