A small bar in an old town, one she's currently found herself residing in for a short time - least, until she can discover further about the odd dissapearances that had been occurring. The bar was one place that seemed to be near at the heart of them all; a central place where most were last seen.

"You a whisky kinda guy then? I'll order you some along with mine."

♡. she  knew  the  risks  of  having  a  casual  relationship  with  death.  it  was  the  same  every  time  ──  just  when  she  was  starting  to  get  comfortable  with  the  idea  of  never  having  to  feel,  never  having  to  know  loss,  it's  taken  away  from  her.  that  strange  sense  of  solace  she  didn't  know  she  needed  is  pried  from  her  hands  &.  she's  left  standing  there  with  nothing.  did  all  of  her  make  it  make  this  time  or  were  pieces  of  her  still  scattered  in  the  halls  of  death's  library  ?  would  she  know  ?  would  he  ?

@deanwnchstr's  solo  mission  to  have  a  conversation  with  something  he's  cheated  1  too  many  times  was  illogical.  the  pit  of  unease  in  her  stomach  grew  as  their  purely  hypothetical  discussion  dragged  into  the  early  hours  of  the  morning  (  a  welcome  reminder  that  she  could  still  feel  such  a  thing  )  ──  he  was  serious.  fingertips  danced  in  the  thin  layer  of  dust  that  covered  the  motel  room  table,  a  distraction  technique  quickly  proving  to  be  less  successful  than  throwing  knifes,  before  the  silence  became  overbearing.  SHE  WANTED  IN.  "  you  wanna  say  hi  to  death,  fine,  but  i'm  coming  with  you.  "

she agrees. if it weren't for her husband, she never would have been there in the first place, and that alone makes the situation damn near impossible. she'd tough it out, all the apprehension, the segregation; the clear indifference that she feels whenever she enters a room. none of it would outwardly bristle her, she would soldier through it regardless. sarah straightens, lifting her chin slightly; she refuses to let the mixture of irritation and hurt seep into her expression. she keeps it cold. "well, that's too bad, dean," sarah muses, a slight tilt of her head indicating that his comment is a minor detail. "thing is: i am here, and there's only one thing that could make me leave, and it sure as hell isn't you," her words aren't loaded, but cool and collected; almost a last ditch effort to let him know that this argument isn't one she cares to continue having. with him or anyone else for that matter. sarah braeden was there, she'd stay until ben decided otherwise; and she knew there wasn't a chance of that eventuating. "is there anything else you wanted to bring up, or was that it?"

i just want to say after that recent headcanon post. that despite all their bloody and messy history that i think it’s neat that dean was asking god or whoever it was to bring everyone back. even crowley. i have loved their off and on love hate bromance, dean as crowley has put it “ bffs with a demon” is something that not so long ago would have been impossible. he’d have just stabbed crowley and been done with it.

honestly!! crowley's relationship with dean is so messy and interesting. the course of the show in general — i mean, the boys were working with crowley and rowena openly — laid a lot of groundwork for morally grey alliances and also just ... subverting the tropes that evil is evil and good is good. they've all done fucked up stuff, they've all been saved by the person they least expected to be saved by, they've all been betrayed, they've all been the bad guy, they've all been the good guy.

it's just. fascinating dynamics and a big part of why i greatly enjoy the spn take on angels and demons, generally.

dean and crowley are especially interesting to me because yeah, dean and sam both have every right to hate him and want him dead. i think it speaks of something for crowley's ability to kind of... be smart about working sides, in the beginning, and then later having a begrudging respect for, and then later even a fondness for the boys, whether or not it's necessarily returned. he made himself useful. and, well. sometimes the bad guy you know is better than the bad guy you don't.

CROWLEY  IS,  BY  ALL  APPEARANCES,  UNCONCERNED.  It  dances  around  dismissive,  even,  but  the  glance  that  lingers  sidelong  on  @deanwnchstr  is  sharp,  studious.  

Does  he  regret  the  whole  Mark  of  Cain  business?  This  whole,  new  Dean?  At  first,  it  was  a  joyride  —  uninhibited  fun,  making  trouble,  reining  him  in  when  he  got  to  be  too  much.  Knowing  that  it  was  getting  under  Sam  and  Castiel’s  skin,  knowing  that  he  had  won,  in  some  small,  fractional  way.  

He  plays  the  board,  see,  and  plays  it  so  many  moves  ahead  that  sometimes  he  loses  track  of  what  lies  right  in  front  of  him,  and  this  time?  What  was  in  front  of  him  was  the  steady  loss  of  whatever  control  he’s  had  over  this  entire  situation,  and  it’s  starting  to  make  him  uneasy.  

Outwardly,  though?  Outwardly  he  just  sips  his  damn  whiskey,  and  reclines  back  in  the  chair. 

“  You  call  it  what  you  will.  But  what  you,  my  dear  brute-force  friend,  do  not  know,  is  that  I  have  so  many  people  in  so  many  bloody  places,  and  —  ”  His  mouth  turns  up  in  a  small,  small  smile  that  doesn’t  touch  his  eyes.  “  —  trust  me.  The  cover-up  will  be  better  than  anything  your  lot  could  orchestrate.  ”  His  brows  tip  up.  “  Turns  out?  I’ve  been  doing  this  a  little  while.  ”  He  reaches  over,  dumps  more  whiskey  into  a  glass.  “  Stop  fretting.  Sit.  Have  a  drink.  ”
