A Million Worlds Apart

She was a studio art major. There is no way she would be into him, a business major with a math minor.

They say opposites attract, but they were too opposite.

She was a friend of a friend. They sort of knew each other. One of those awkward friendshippy type things.

He sometimes noticed little things. Like when she got bored she would scribble little stars on the cuffs of her jeans.

He lived for when she smiled, it was subtle, perfect. There was nothing like it. Any time he saw it, the rest of his day was automatically better.

When they hung out in the coffee shop in between classes, he noticed she would pull out one of those teen magazines and do the stupid little quizzes.

But there was no way she felt the same way

One day she walked into the coffee shop, her hair was cut into a jaw length bob and had indigo streaks in it, and he went weak in the knees. She looked bad ass.

“I lov--The streaks are really cool.” Had he almost said that, holy fuck.

And my god, she was a dorky dancer. It was adorable. She did not care what anybody thought of her dancing, all that mattered is that she was having fun.

But he couldn’t tell her. It was too weird. It would never work.

They were a million worlds apart.

“Connor!” you yell, opening your front door. “What are you doing? It’s freezing!”

He just laughs and closes the door behind him. “It’s snowing!”

You have to admit, seeing your boyfriend this happy is incredible. It would just be better if it wasn’t so cold. “Come on upstairs, I’ll make you hot chocolate.”

He pulls on your arm. “No! Come. Play with me!” He has one hand on the doorknob, ready to turn it and pull you out into the cold.

“Connor! I’m not dressed!” You gesture to your fluffy pajama bottoms and a band t-shirt.

He rushes upstairs and grabs the closest jacket and a pair of slippers. “Alright! Now you are!”

You put the jacket and slippers on before giving in. “Fine, but-”

“Yes!” He’s out the door before you can finish your sentence.

“Connor!” you yell, chasing after him.

There’s not a lot of snow, but there is enough to make a foot tall snowman. Connor wraps his scarf around it.

“Your nose is red,” he comments.

“I’m cold. Can we go in?”

“I guess I’ve kept you outside long enough.” He leads you inside, taking off his coat. “I’ll make some hot chocolate.”

You follow him upstairs, leaving your snow-covered slippers and jacket by the door with Connor’s boots and jacket. Instead of going to the kitchen, you head to your room, eager to wrap yourself in a blanket. A few minutes later, Connor comes into your room with two mugs of hot chocolate. Setting the mugs two on your nightstand, he sits next to you, wrapping a blanket around the two of you.

“Thank you.” You take a sip of the drink. “I never knew you liked snow so much.”

He rests his head on your shoulder. “It’s nice. Cold, quiet. No one’s out there.”

“Thank you for sharing that with me.” Throughout your relationship, Connor slowly started letting you into the parts of his life that he never let anyone know about. By just sharing something as simple as a snow day with you, he told you that he trusted and cared about you more than anyone else in his life.

He shrugs. “You have a little hot chocolate.” He leans in to kiss you. “Right.” Your lips connect. “There,” he finishes, pulling away.

saw your selfie and tried to slide into your dms

since you couldn't really see him he was able to play up his confidence and be himself without the fear and pressure of the rumors around school

you probably turned him down at least twice through DMs but he got you to exchange snap chats and you actually starting talking

you didn't really know much about him during the first month of talking to him but he got really upset one day and needed to tell someone and he know he could just write it down in your messages and get the rage out
