The fact that he’s being watched has been obvious from the start. Instinct honed through years of training and combat is his first warning and with it comes the familiar and uncomfortable knowledge that he could very likely be prey caught in someone else’s sights.
The hairs on the back of his neck stand on end and he’s high alert, sinking into a combat ready stance. A hundred scenarios play out in his head as he marks every escape route, every possible point of attack. And then he spots the culprit and reality comes crashing down. He scowls, angry with himself and with this stranger still brazenly staring at him even when caught in the act. This stranger and his ability to weigh a single hum with so much meaning that he knows he’s being judged… and likely found wanting.
“What!?” He rounds on the other man, hurling the question whip-like between them. “If you need something then say it or leave.”
