"now doctor watson, i am not going to do that." i state firmly, continuing to follow along after him. if there was one thing i would never do, it was leave behind a colleague in a time of need. "we are workin' this case together and i will be by your side until we figure out this mess." right now, it wasn't looking great. and as much as i'd like to stick around, finding safety should be our priority right now. "i say we both get out of here and regroup later. it is reckless to think we can take this on ourselves, let alone just yourself."

this is not the face she expected to see. she supposes she ought to have thought it a possibility ; why wouldn't it be? he ... lives here, doesn't he? it strikes irene suddenly, in this moment, that she has never looked into that. unlike some people, she considers other's homes as sacred. not for her to pry into. though perhaps she ought to have, before showing up on the stoop of said house in the pouring rain bearing nothing than a rain-coat and a single bag of luggage.

this is not the first time she has found herself unsure of where to stay the night. it is the first time she has tried this angle, though. between gigs. between flats. she could try to find a flight out to anywhere else, but that seems less convenient than a sofa. she isn't afraid of looking a touch pitiful, really, if it means getting out of the weather.

"oh. mr watson." irene is thrown off her rhythm. she had expected sherlock, an extension of the little game they play every time the two of them meet. the unexpected face has left her unsure what to say. "well." irene wonders if she is the only person on earth who finds holmes easier to talk to than watson. " ... is sherlock in?"
