I never told anyone this, but Oct/Nov '13, my step-grandmother, step-grandfather, and cat all died. I cried hardest for my cat, and I'm kind of ashamed of myself because of it. But the fact is, animals are family. They're more than distant people you meet once every few years - they're in your life every day and they love you and have little dumb quirks that you hate or love and they're just so much more REAL than most people. It's okay to break down over pets. We love them too much not to.
