I feel like they just need to throw the Heroes more Bones
Like, Most of the Heroes end up getting screwed over or find peace in death and such
Like, Vanessa tried to do what Tape girl said and was able to lock Glitchtrap away before he could either steal her body or be left over when the game went public, and her reward was getting him stuck in her head and abused and Brocken into his slave. I am not saying that is bad in of itself but its why I prefer the Free Vanny ending be canon, just letting people who did good deeds be able to be rewarded for them and not constantly punished
I certainly agree with that. Even if we ignore the implications and the fact that it becomes boring to know the villain's always going to win, it also tends to punish the audience for becoming invested.
Basically, if you root for anyone other than the villain, you're going to be disappointed. 8/ Horror movies have taken this trend too, but I feel like they've done it significantly worse, because they think it's some kind of surprise when it's mostly expected.
Vanessa is especially a tragic case since her ending is significantly more satisfying than the canon one- and it could've opened up the chance of her being the protagonist of the next game!
Maybe someday. Perhaps.
