Oh geez tonight Mom brought up "you should join a club and make new friends" for the second time in the past few days

Whenever I purposefully try and make new friends I end up disappointed. The only exception is observing interactions between friends of friends I already have and initiating a relationship based on common interests. 

Like, I'm into partner dancing but I've taken plenty of classes and end up having to dance with boring and/or creepy dudes that wear way too much aftershave

I'd like to take voice lessons but certainly not in a group

She suggested I start writing again but I don't wanna do that right now, it's an enormous effort and extremely time-consuming

I could try a local SCA group I guess, there's lots of stuff I'd like to try there

Maybe an LGBTQIAP+ group?

Or Spanish language practice wouldn't hurt

I was reading aloud some of the local groups and I mentioned the pagan one and she was like, "Don't go to that, it'd be a bunch of weirdos" and I'm just like *long suffering sigh*

I mean it's not like I don't have friends, it's just that most of them aren't nearby

Wouldn't it be cool if tumblr had an opt-in option to search for nearby people with similar interests? I mean I know the point is that we're not like other social networking sites but still
