My Podcast recommendation list!
So I work at a greenhouse and I am always looking for new podcasts to keep me sane while I work. And lately I’ve found some gems. So here are some recommendations:
-Wolf 359: you follow the audio logs of Doug Eiffle as he searches for alien life from the Hephaestus space station. I’m not one for space themed stories but I freaking LOVE this podcast. It will take you on a trip man, you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might even experience chills! This has great story writing and an engaging plot and even a sassy AI.
-Death by Dying: follows an obituary writer as he writes about deaths in his little Idaho town. This is similar to Welcome to Nightvale but with more dark humor with a little bit of mystery. I’m really enjoying it even though there’s only a few episodes up. Please listen to this so I can talk to people about it.
- timebombs: this one is a fast hitting comedy about bomb defusers. Written by the people who made Wolf 359 this is a really awesomely funny podcast. Though the only draw back is that there’s only 3 episodes. That is definitely a bummer
- Done disappeared: this is a “serious” crime podcast. Written by John David Booter he searches for the lost Clara pockets. Why was the cake so small? That is what John David Booter is trying to find out.
I know this isn’t a long list, but these are the ones that I have been enjoying lately. If you have any other suggestions please let me know! And feel free to add to my tiny list.
My Apple Oatmeal Bake Recipe
Hello friends? Are we friends? My mother always did say I gave my heart away too easily. I also give my food away too easily.
It’s fall now. Late fall. Sweater weather. The kind of weather where my slightly lumpy figure can be masked by swaths of billowing cloth (I should elaborate. I’m rather svelt but I have just a smidge of a tummy pooch. My larger problem is my hips, they are bony and protruding, giving me a rather curvy hourglass waist.) When it comes to sweaters, I’ve got a striped number that would really tickle your socks off. But I haven’t worn it much due to... an unforseen dilema. Allow me to explain.
Times have been tough, in the Jeff household. My turtle might need an operation and I’ve been trying to cut costs at every turn I can. I recently have become a generic brand man. I didn’t mind so much for some things, the different, uh, anti prespierants for instance or the dish soap. But I’ve hit a snag (CLOTH PUN!) when it comes to detergent.
Tide has been a long standing tradition in the Jeff household. When I switched over to, ultra soft silk clean brand, it was with great pain I said goodbye to Tide. The change was minor at first. The bottle had a different heft. My clothes, maybe a slightly different sheen. But the sacrifice seemed worth it with impending financial troubles.
But, I started to hear strange sounds from my washing machine in the afternoons sometimes. A slight gurgling like a stout man choking on pasta. Then, the wrinkles. Not in drips and drabs. Full scale wrinkle attacks. My neatly folded clothes would be found hours later creased in every which wrong way. I felt a chill down my spine on entering my laundry room.
I’m a spiritual man. I know a haunting. I’m being harrased by Johnathan Tide, founder of Tide detergent. I’m quite perturbed to be honest. I know we’ve gone back a ways, but to wreak havoc in such a way seems a bit too extreme. I’ve taken to washing my clothes in the river. The situation at the moment is rather in flux.
On a positive note, down by the river I found a lovely, if slightly askew apple tree. I’ve picked my self a bushell and whipped this bad boy up. How’s this treat your tongue?

INGREDIENTS:
3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup lightly packed brown sugar (more to taste if you like things a bit sweeter)
2 1/2 cups milk
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 tablespoons butter or coconut oil, melted
2-3 large tart, sweet apples (like Honey Crisp or Gala), peeled, cored and diced
DIRECTIONS
Lightly grease a 8X12-inch or 9X13-inch baking pan or 9X9-inch (for super thick oatmeal) with nonstick cooking spray and set aside. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (don’t preheat the oven if making ahead of time and refrigerating overnight).
In a large bowl, whisk together the oats, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and brown sugar.
In a large liquid measuring cup or medium bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla.
Pour this mixture over the dry ingredients and add the melted butter or coconut oil. Stir or whisk to combine.
Arrange the diced apples evenly over the bottom of the baking dish and pour the oatmeal mixture over the top. You can cover and refrigerate overnight at this point or bake right away (uncover before baking the next morning).
Bake for 35-45 minutes until the top is golden and the mixture is setup and not super jiggly.
Serve warm or at room temperature with a little milk poured over the top, if you want.
