How was she to know? How was she to predict what would happen because of her own stupidity? She had no way. She had acted out of fear, she had acted out of pure selfishness and even now she was too selfish to admit it. If she could convince herself that she had done nothing wrong, perhaps it would someday become true. Perhaps one day Hannah would stop being a constant reminder of that one time in which she didn’t recognise herself.

Sheri stared at the girl for a second, pondering on how to follow her words. Sometimes she felt like she was walking on eggshells with Hannah, like if anything she said could shatter their already fragile friendship. Nothing had been the same ever since the accident and to an extent the cheerleader had considered blatantly ignoring the other girl. But she couldn’t, it was too unlike her to turn her back on someone once dear.
