She wasn’t sure when she had fallen asleep or when she had rested her head on his shoulder. Sheri somewhat remembered that motion and how her lips had slightly curved up at the familiar feeling of warmth he provided. They hadn’t been at its best, but they had found once again that they needed one another. Numbers and symbols had blurred into a dream she didn’t quite remember. And it was a good thing considering how memorable her nightmares had been lately.

He was good for her and it was painful to know that it didn’t matter, not while they were tangled up in a horrid web of guilt. They needed to heal, not pretend they had healed.

At the gentle budge, Sheri’s eyes opened, vision blurry at first before it focused on a familiar set of blue eyes. Hands rubbed on closed eyelids before a yawn greeted her. God, she was tired.
