Christopher Llewellyn Reed is Professor and Chair of the Department of Film and Moving Image at Stevenson University, and is a film critic, filmmaker and longtime educator. A brand-new member of the Washington DC Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) and a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic, Chris is lead film critic at Hammer to Nail, an online magazine devoted to independent cinema; film critic at Film Festival Today; the host of Dragon Digital Media’s award-winning "Reel Talk with Christopher Llewellyn Reed"; a regular film commentator for the "Roughly Speaking” podcast with Dan Rodricks at The Baltimore Sun; an occasional writer for the online magazine BmoreArt; and the author of Film Editing: Theory and Practice. In addition, since January, 2018, he is one of three co-creators of The Fog of Truth, a podcast devoted to documentary cinema.

Over the years, Professor Reed has worked on numerous award-winning films as director, cinematographer, and editor. He holds a B.A. from Harvard University, in Slavic Languages and Literatures (concentration in Russian), an M.A from Yale University, in Russian and East European Studies (concentration in Russian Film), and an M.F.A. from the Graduate Film Program at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

That self-stabbing yesterday was weird, because I barely felt it. I wasn’t expecting any blood (I’ve had more yelp-worthy injections that have resulted in no blood whatsoever), which is why the most perfect drip landed right between the legs of one of my little people. Sometimes, I leave blood in my work. But this was so circular, and so impeccably placed that it looked contrived. I was listening to Armando Iannucci talking about The Death of Stalin a while back. He said they had to leave some bits out of the film because they were way too funny for anyone to believe. Even though they were true. This was a similar thing. That blood was flawlessly shaped, positioned and coloured. So I removed it. Squeezed a blob of 27yo travel-wash on, leaving just the faintest trace that only I and you know about. I like that. Meanwhile, if you want to follow someone in Moscow, you can’t go wrong with @kjspompey10_vinylly . Gave me great pleasure seeing his square omelette and cauliflower breakfast. Don’t know why.
