DebFAQ - You Got Questions, I Got Answers!
So, people leave me questions in the comments to my stories, and I hate to say it, but I’m way out of practice answering comments. I love them, I live for them, I obsess over them, but I figure people want content more than they want responses to comments. So I try to work on my stories, my art, my Patreon, my Etsy stuff. And because I’ve run into a bump in the fiscal road, I’ve been spending a lot of time recently getting stuff up and sold on eBay. So there hasn’t been as much time for writing, drawing, creating. But hopefully some changes at my job will free me up for more time to spend on creativity. In the meantime, I’m going to maintain this FAQ to answer general questions posed in the comments on my AO3 stories, or submitted here on Tumblr.
Question: You might want to look up the definition of “scatalogical” [in reference to its use in On the Air].
Answer: This has come up several times in the comments on On the Air, and quite frankly, it was old two years ago, so to still see people bringing it up ... well, let’s just say that my answer to this is look at the actual definition per Merriam-Webster:
Definition of scatology. 1 : interest in or treatment of obscene matters especially in literature. 2 : the biologically oriented study of excrement (as for taxonomic purposes or for the determination of diet)
So yeah, I’ve looked it up, I know how to use the word, and I am actually using the preferred definition in my use of the word in the story.
Question: Have you giving up on posting new chapters of your "Take Up Your Shield" stories?
Answer: Nope! I just haven’t had time to work on them recently. I have no intention of abandoning any of my Steve/Bucky works!
Question: [re: “Take Up Your Shield and Follow Me” series] How did Bucky go from remembering everything, and getting his revenge on Rumlow, to nonverbal, and considered amnesiac?
Answer: That’s the core of the next story i’ve been chipping away at in the series, “Like a Prayer.” It’s actually one of the first Stucky things I wrote, but as I’ve written other stories in the series, and developed more of a relationship with the characters, I’ve reworked bits of it over time. I really do want to get the story finished and posted - hopefully sometime in the next couple of months!
Question: [re: “Take Up Your Shield and Follow Me” series] Also, how did Steve and Bucky resolve that “break up” back in the past?
Answer: The “break up” isn’t yet resolved, but there’s a lot that’s going to happen in the story “Speechless.” Again, an early part of the story I wrote, but still growing and changing. It’s going to be an emotional roller coaster, I can guarantee that!
Question: What’s happening with ... Threads ... Ohana ... On the Air ... It Takes a Village ... Do I Know You? ... By Royal Decree ... Sequels ...
Answer: I am abandoning nothing. Nothing, I tell you! I can’t help it that RL intrudes on my fic-writing time! Plus ... plot bunnies! And challenges! Look for new stuff - complete - from me for the Cap Reverse Big Bang 2018, and the Cap Big Bang 2018. In the meantime, I plan to continue to chunk away at the stories I have in progress. I’m itching to finish them and share, I promise you!
Update: I’m actually trying to spend some time on WIPs every day, and I’ve released short but pivotal chapters recently to On the Air, Threads, and as of 28Mar18, Ohana.
Question: [re: WitSec] Since you officially introduced Pierce in this story, I’m kinda wondering if he didn’t have something to do with why the Rogers needed witness protection...
Answer: Nope. I just like killing Alexander Pierce. Seriously, that’s the whole reason he’s mentioned.
Question: [re: I Wonder If You Look Both Ways When You Cross My Mind] Not sure if I missed it somewhere, but I'm hoping you'll share some of those recipes.
Answer: Hey, I just found a couple of them recently when I was going through papers. I have 5 cats, and they frequently rearrange my reality. I’m still hunting for my dog-eared, much annotated cookbook, so I can post a group of recipes from the story.
Question: Those Pops you post are amazing! Where can I get mine?
Answer: My Etsy store. Act fast, though - I’m starting to have trouble getting some of the Pops I use to make my customs.
Question: What Pops do you use to make your customs? I like your customs, but I don’t want to pay you to make them, I want to make them myself.
Answer: [crickets]
Question: So you have a Patreon. Why should I support you?
Answer: Advance access to stories in progress - I’ve even posted an entire story on Patreon before posting it to AO3. Art in progress. More information on how I create my Pops. Opportunities to give input into my next project. Stuff you won’t see on Tumblr, because it’s exclusive to Patreon. Coloring pages. A monthly calendar page. My life in fandom: a History. You can support me for as little as $1 a month.
Okay, that’s it for the FAQ tonight. In the meantime, I’m posting the next chapter of WitSec - go read it!
