Today, paying off debt looks like 3 more pair of shoes selling on EBay! These aren’t super pricey by any means. But I want to be debt free more than I want more 👠. Gonna pay this thing off in 5s and 10s if I have to. The goal for this month is to pay off $5000 on my student loan, and it’s definitely a stretch goal! What’s your debt payoff goal for this month? #thedebtfreeyear #ebayseller #babystep2 #sheworkshardsavingmoney #debtfree2020 #financialpeace https://www.instagram.com/p/B7SXzkOF7z9/?igshid=1fg3meftbk8fn
Debt Debt Everywhere! (Episode 1)
I want to document my journey into this new life I’m trying to create and it is starting out with challenges, of course. To just put it out there...we (the hubs and I) are sitting on top of about $117,000 in debt according to my mint account. This includes our credit cards, my truck, his car, my student loans, and our personal loans.
PRIMARY GOAL - Pay off the credit cards and personal loans (~$35,000). I want to do this by December 2019...before we start our “2020: Year of Travel” adventures.
Student Loans - The student loans are on track and I honestly couldn’t pay any higher on that if I tried. I am on a 10-year repayment plan and will be finishing up my payments in 2022. For those not acquainted with the 10-year graduated repayment plan... I started out paying $500/month in 2012, the payments increase every few years under the assumption my salary is also increasing, so at the end of 10 years I am paying $1300/month. It is HARSH but almost over! (~$45,000 remaining).
Auto Loans - I’m not 100% sure what the plans will be here but we will evaluate as we get closer to our travel and likely reduce to one vehicle once I quit my current full-time job/before we start to travel.
So that is the main focus of the financial sector of my life. Gotta crush this debt!
NEXT TIME ON “Debt Debt Everywhere!” - how I plan to cut back our monthly expenses through the end of 2018...
