It’s TRAGIC really. No matter one’s intention, there will always be others who paint a picture of them, dark and smeared and utterly unrecognizable, and declare it to be their TRUE self. In Booker’s case, it seemed no matter how hard he fought, or on which side, he always ended up the VILLAIN of the story. Of course Jack doesn’t know the details. It hadn’t been his PLACE to ask. But he’d been around the man long enough to put a few KEY pieces together. &&. While he certainly wouldn’t consider himself CLOSE to Booker – especially given that he’s the reason Elizabeth had left her safe sanctuary – he still feels ASSURANCES threatening to spill off his tongue. All the blood, bruises and death set aside, he wants to share that HOPE burning in his chest, to give Booker something more.
“…Sure as that might be, life doesn’t have to be pretty to still have a happy ending, does it?”
