I’m going to kinda cop out here but only because I really really love @decadeance‘s answer to this question. but other than that, it’s really like any other genre/aesthetic, it is what you make of it. (also check out @decadeance‘s ref list because other’s have great (and varying) ideas on what DA is [like this] )
I think you might be talking about this response where I was replying to how dark academia can favor the classics over other studies and this can carry some inherently bad notions. I totally agree and think that this can also happen with philosophy.
If you want to see how I think about dark academia, you can look at the dark academia written aesthetics that I sometimes do :)
