Deadass watch Deceit's name be something like Samantha and the only reason he refuses to give it is because he knows that the others will have no mercy once they learn it
Until his name is revealed we can literally call Deceit anything we want
His name is Kevin
So the Ligh Sides’ names end with -an or -on
The Dark Sides’ names end with -us
And Virgil’s name breaks both of these rules...
god am I the only dumbass that just realised Janus & Remus both end in ‘us’ because I was too distracted by how perfect janus is as a name for deceit,,, and the fact that Virgil’s name ends in ‘il’ not only would have made him feel like he didn’t truly belong with the light sides but also like he didn’t fit in anywhere when he was still dark
A Thought/Concept/Idea/Headcanon/Theory On Deceit's Name
Okay, so, I just read a thing that made me think. It was talking about what Deceit's name could be, but I'm not focusing on their guesses, but on what they prefaced it with (paraphrased) "The "lightsides" names match, Patton, Logan, Roman (Pathos, Logos, Romantic) and the "darksides" names match, Virgil, Remus, both mythologically based." Which really got me thinking, obviously Virgil's name comes from Virgil the poet, and Virgil who appears in Dante's Inferno as a guide of sorts, and Remus is to match with Roman, Romulus and Remus, Remus as the "unloved brother" who died before he got a city named after him. But it made me think about Deceit's name, which would likely also be based in mythology, I've taken to calling him Ethan or Ethos in my writing a lot of the time, just because it's a fun concept that he has the matching name to Patton and Logan or the an-on pattern and Virgil doesn't, but I doubt that name is actually a large possibility.
But, I had a thought, who in mythology is associated with snakes, trickery, and deception? (Also the added bonus of "gender? Overrated," but that's a fan concept.) Loki. Norse god of trickery. Now, Loki as an actual name is a little on the nose, and we've seen Thomas "modernizing" names for use before (Pathos-Patton, Logos-Logan, and the concept of Ethos-Ethan for Virgil) so, what's a name that, while not necessarily coming from Loki, sounds kinda similar? Luke. Which is also a biblical name, which would tie in with Remus and all his religious references, and that specific scene from DWIT and Remus's song "Recently a snake offered me a morsel from the tree of knowledge." With Deceit appearing as a silhouette, tying him to Remus (other than them both being "darksides" already) which means that Luke as a name would have a mythological tie as well as a direct tie to another character, matching him with not only the "darksides" with mythology but also to Remus specifically with a religious name.
I know it's not likely, especially because Virgil and Remus's names are both from Roman/Greek mythology and Loki is Norse, but it's interesting to think about at the very least, so, IDK, just enjoy my silly concept that was probably born from a lack of sleep and my tendency to overthink. But, whatever.
Have a great day/night and don't forget to stan Thomas Sanders!
Incorrect Sanders Sides Quote
Virgil, popping up in Deceit’s room: So, you told them your name. Deceit: You heard all that then, huh? Virgil: Nah, I saw the Tumblr notifications.

I have a theory on deceits name
Okay so now I’m really convinced that deceits name may be Eden or Ethan to sound more like a normal name. But listen, so I’m part of the theory train that is the fact that deceit is the Ethos appeal (establishing credibility though status-in the case that he shapeshifted into Patton [“I’m your morality, listen to me” kinda thing], using a common ground to his advantage [“Oh look I’m a side too btw you should listen to me bc I have an opinion”], and other stuff) which makes sense to me. Also he compares himself to “The Snake Who Tricked you Into Sinning”, obvs referencing the Adam and Eve thing in the garden of Eden. So, I’m guessing his name, like Logan and Patton who appeal to logos and pathos, would be Eden//Edan//or Ethan for a more common name because of his appeal and his correlation to the garden of Eden metaphorically.
