You were all coming back in from a bust and you were sat in black betty. Christmas songs were going through your head the main one being Last Christmas by Wham! You started humming along to it without even noticing. You weren’t normally on 20 David but Luca was injured so Hondo asked for someone to cover for Luca. You and Jim had both grew up with each other after Buck took you both in.

“Will you stop humming Christmas songs Y/N/N” Street said groaning 

“Sorry Grinch forgot you hate Christmas”  You said jumping out the back of Black Betty. Hondo and Deac took everyone’s guns as you were now all on over time. Street gave you a look that said ‘run’ so that’s exactly what you did. Running inside past all the uniforms and 60 David. You reached the locker room where Tan and Luca were. You hid behind Tan leaning against someone’s locker

“What are you doing?” Luca asked laughing 

“Hiding from Jim I’m not here” 

“Ok” You stood there catching your breath

“Where is Y/N?” Jim said walking in the room 

“I don’t know I’ve not seen her since we were sat in Black Betty” Tan said keeping your cover

“I think I saw her go into the armoury” Luca said and you smiled. Jim walked out and you moved away 

“Y/L/N Thanks for covering Luca Merry Christmas” Hondo handed you a present and you held it up with a smile 

“It was no problem. Congrats again on getting back Luca” You hugged each of them 

“Come on open it” Chris said and you opened the gift inside was a sergeants badge. You furrowed your brows 

“With Mumford gone 50 David needs a new sergeant and Hicks asked us to see who we like. Y/N you’re gonna be a great sergeant” 

“But I’ve only just passed the exam” 

“You’ve still passed it”

Brian May - Just One Life (Lyrics)

I discovered John Lennon 40 years ago this week.  I had the pain and the privilege of only discovering this man because he died.  December 8th is a double edged sword for me as a result.  I have always struggled to find the words to convey what this man means to me and how he has impacted my life.

Last year I came across a song that seemed to say what I have wanted to for so many years.  It was written by Queen's guitarist Brian May on one of his solo albums.  It wasn't written about Lennon but I felt it was my story.  I am moved deeply every time I hear this song and felt like sharing it this year.

It is called 'Just One Life' and it says what I need to say.  Thank you Brian May.

I chose this picture to share because to me it represents the song 'I'm Only Sleeping.'  In my mind John is only sleeping as he never left us - his impact remains.   Bless you John - wherever you are!
