Another OC from deep in the inbox. Presenting: Punch Out, of TFP. - - - - - - - * * * * * * * - - - - - - -

Punch Out's Look is a little base on Knock Out but instead of Red and White, Punch Out is Pink and Red. and instead of having red optics he has blue optics, he has freckles, I guess his Carrier could be either a decepticon or neutral or autobot I guess. he is name partly after Knock Out and all so the fruit punch that is some times pink. I guess his Carrier could of went offline during his birth and was taken in by Neutrals during his first breem of life and I guess later on his foster Neutral family could be like offline by some Decepticon and taken away to be raised for 500 Ano-cycle by Vehicons who would then give the 500 Ano-Cycle old [which his age in human years would be 5 years old] Punch Out to the Decepticons on the Nemesis. I guess his caretaker/nanny could be like some random vehicon on the nemesis who is given orders to watch him and take care of him. if I had to guess his personality it be : Shy to others and will cling and hide behind the one he trusts the most, Crybaby as he will cry a lot if angered or upset, Happy when feeling all happy, goes through a temper tantrums [all so known as The Terrible 500s which is like a human child's Terrible 2s only 10 times worse] info on the Cybertronian Terrible 500s : during the Terrible 500s the cybertronian child will throw fits and will start screaming sonic screams that will pierce through one full grown cybertronian's audios and give them a Splitting headache, the cybertronian child aka sparkling will all so get very strong and will have the strength to pick up a full grown cybertronian and throw them clear a cross the room and or take them by the foot and start to slam them over and over and over on the ground or floor or wall, they will all so start to bite if they feel angered or threatened by some one. Habit: tends to get into trouble, will bite any one who threatens him, tends to cry a lot, draws on the walls of the Nemesis, calls everyone Mama both Autobots and Decepticons[he'll get over it in time] him calling every all most few of autobots and decepticons mama is because of his lack of having one cause he lost his carrier when he was very young and was taken in by Neutrals but was taken away from them too. Words he can only say " Yes, No, Mama, Dada, Love you" [he only knows few words] First Words " Dada " I guess how he would of been born would be on some kind of Neutral Colony Planet that would be home to Neutrals and former Autobots and former decepticons who I guess could act as protectors for the Neutrals who live there. I guess Punch Out's Carrier/Mother would of either ran away from either the Autobots and or Decepticons and join the Neutrals that could explain why Neutrals took in Punch Out when Punch Out's Carrier past on to the Well of All Sparks. any way I guess Punch Out's creators weren't sparkbonded to each other and Punch Out's Late-Carrier got the spark coding from a hospital where they get Surrogate-Sires who donates a part of there genetic spark make up coding and there kept in glass containers and they look like tiny like spark like fireflies that are like a swarms in the glass container it is in and they will only become one spark when they go into the Carrier's spark chamber. - - - - - - - * * * * * * * - - - - - - - This OC has been sitting in our inbox for a while, and I believe it was submitted when the character was still quite new. But because our backlog was so deep, we never got around to them until now. The OC is now a bit over a year old, and I think we may be able to offer a little bit of advice on them now… Normally we don't critique artist's styles, because we can't judge an OC's work based on their creator's artistic talent. In this case, however, I would like to make a point to say that those particular shades of red and pink are a bit jarring, when placed together. I think the creator should test out a new color scheme, or at least test out shifting the colors around. As for the actual profile…this OC is the offspring of the Canon Knockout, but via the process of spark donation (like sperm donation). It's an interesting headcanon, but it does depend on readers sharing the same spark headcanons as the creator….some headcanons treat sparks, bonding, and spark creation as a more personal event. Sparks may or may not regenerate like human sperm does (is there Canon on this?), so Cybertronians would have to be much more careful about what they do with the thing that keeps them alive. And as far as this Mod is aware, the spark isn't just a Cybertronian's heart - it's their soul. Wouldn't you be hesitant to break off a piece of your soul, and even more so to stick it in a jar to create a child with a complete stranger somewhere in the future? I'm not saying this is a bad set-up (it's actually rather creative), but it is creating somewhat of a moral issue, and the way it's set up has already lined it up to clash with some of the popular spark/bonding/sparkling headcanons out there. I'd advise the creator to at least have some reasoning to back up this process, As for these "Terrible 500's"…..the screaming and biting and tantrums sound fine (they're all in line with the "Terrible Twos" in human children. But the "strength to pick up a full grown cybertronian and throw them clear a cross the room and or take them by the foot and start to slam them over and over and over on the ground or floor or wall"…….no. I'm sorry, but that just doesn't work. Look, creator, I realize you were going for comedic effect, here, but that kind of sudden strength is just way too ridiculous and OP, considering your OC's age. It's just too out of line with everything else to be taken seriously. From there on out, the profile doesn't have any definitive information. The OC 'may or may not' be a Neutral, the OC 'may or may not' have been raised in a Neutral colony, the OC's carrier 'may or may not' be an Autobot/Decepticon. I can't critique 'maybes'. - - - - - - - * * * * * * * - - - - - - - Overall, a character that needs a lot of work. I really can't offer much if the creator hasn't nailed down what they want to start with; picking what they should or should not do is overstepping my boundaries as a Mod. I'll recommend these CE articles for the creator's benefit, though.

Name: Freefall

Gender: Male

Name Origin: The name 'Freefall' was inspired in one part of the Blurr/Skywarp RP, where Blurr and Skywarp went flying together, and Blurr asked Skywarp to let him go so they could go into freefall together. The moment was so special to Blurr, that when they were trying to come up with a name for their as-of-yet unborn sparkling, he recalled the moment and asked if it was possible to name the sparkling 'Freefall'.

Alliance: Autobot

Alt Mode: (Earth Version) Harrier Jet

Weapons & Abilities: Null-ray cannons, can fly at almost super-sonic speeds (in other words, he's a flying version of his father XD)

Parents: Blurr (father), Skywarp (mother)

Relatives: Starscream (grandfather), Thundercracker, Ramjet, Sunstorm (uncles), Laserwave (aunt), Jazz, Sentinel Prime, Ultra Magnus (uncles, part of his extended family), Nightflash (younger brother)

Friends: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Prowl, Bulkhead, Ratchet, Blitzwing (see 'Facts' ), Lugnut (see 'Facts' )

Personality: Friendly, outgoing, cheerful, inquisitive, likes making new friends and seeing new things

Color Scheme: Light blue, blue, black, some purple mixed in

Who Could Play Voice: Elijah Wood

Facts: -Freefall's conception was actually a 'happy' accident that his parents didn't plan for. Both of them were rather tipsy from drinking high-grade energon to celebrate Skywarp and Blurr being bondmates, and for Skywarp's new place amongst the Autobots, and one thing lead to another...you get the picture. XD Still, when they found out that Skywarp was going to have a sparkling, they were absolutely delighted, and they welcomed the little mech into the world with loving arms when he was finally born. <3

- He inherited his color scheme from Blurr, and has some purple mixed in, which he inherited from Skywarp.

- He is the only Autobot to have red optics, which he also inherited from Skywarp.

- He bears the Autobot insignias on his wings, in a similar manner to how the seekers wear their Decepticon insignias on their wings.

- He was kidnapped by Megatron when he was about four years old to be used as ransom for the AllSpark fragments, and as a result he is deadly afraid of him.

- However, because he was placed in the care of Blitzwing and Lugnut when he was kidnapped, he ended up winning both 'Cons over due to his sweet nature and his babyish innocence, and they became very fond of him.

- When Megatron met up with the Autobots and the other seekers to exchange Freefall for the AllSpark fragments, Megatron threatened to crush him in his hand when the Autobots refused to hand over the fragments first, much to the horror of both parents, the other Autobots and the seekers, and Lugnut and Blitzwing. (As mentioned earlier, they had become attached to Freefall, and the very idea that their leader would actually CONSIDER murdering a sparkling proved to be too horrible for them to comprehend.)

- After the events of the kidnapping, both Lugnut and Blitzwing had felt bad about the whole thing, and they sought out Freefall's parents to apologize for their leader's actions (OMG 'CONS APOLOGIZING THE WORLD ENDS! 8D), and although they were extremely wary at first, when they saw how Freefall interacted with both mechs, they eventually agreed that it was alright for them to visit Freefall occassionally, providing that Megatron didn't find out!

- At Freefall's fifth birthday, he wished for a baby brother to play with, and his parents got busy in granting his wish... X//D (As of yet in the current RP, Nightflash has yet to be born, but oh LORDY will those two be cute together when that does happen! X///3)

- As he grows older, Freefall expresses the desire of becoming an intelligence officer like his father Blurr, and he trains under him in the hopes of achieving his dream.

- Like his father, Freefall sometimes speaks very rapidly whenever he's surprised or excited. But for the most part, he speaks at a normal pace.

- He has a sweet tooth for wax truffles, and would happily eat a whole bagful, even if it meant he would get sick as a result. XD

- His null-ray cannons fire energy shots that are light blue in color, rather than the purplish blasts that Starscream and the other clones shoot from their null-rays. (Heehee, Freefall's even more special naow! <3)

- Being a young mech, he loves watching cartoons, playing video games, looking at comics, and generally having fun with his friends and family. He also loves flying, and can spend hours soaring in the sky, free as a bird.

- His absolute favorite movie of all time is WALL-E. (Heehee, yes, WALL-E exists in the universe me and *removed* have created! >3< ) 

- As a result of being kidnapped by Megatron, he suffers from occassional nightmares of the incident. These nightmares happened very frequently when he was young, but as he grows older they occur less often. But they still leave him shaken. (I can hardly blame him, poor thing. ;3; )

- As Freefall grows older, he might end up becoming VERY popular with other mechs, due to his beautiful and graceful appearance. (Not that he probably wouldn't mind, heehee! X//3)

I'd like to state right here and now that this OC is clearly an RP OC (and possibly a crack one at that). I understand that unusual things happen in RPs. However, this profile was submitted to us, and we are going to critique it as if the OC were completely serious in order to make a few points about several controversial and do-not-do traits. We mean no harm in our criticism, 

We'll start at the top and work our way down. First, the name: It's not that bad.

"Freefall" is actually a pretty Seeker-ish name, and does stick to the two part norm (as you could also spell it "FreeFall" or even "FreeFaller"). It might make others think that this Seeker isn't the best at flying, but it still works. However, the "name origin" section makes things a little more confusing (it's really not needed) and throws us right into one of the big issues of this character.

This is a Canon pairing offspring. An Autobot/Decepticon Canon pairing, at that. And as far as I knew, one half of this pairing was already dead about halfway through the TFA series. TFA Skywarp and Blurr don't exactly have a friendly history, anyway. They're ENEMIES, remember. Also Blurr ends up as a cube. And not likely a sentient cube either. He's DEAD. What exactly is the explanation for Blurr being fully repaired and alive and paired up with a Starscream clone of all people?

Also...

Harrier jump jets are strictly subsonic flyers. They cannot physically break the sound barrier (thus flying at supersonic speeds) because their large air intakes create too much drag. I realize the creator is trying to put a little of Blurr into this OC, but this OC's altmode physically CAN NOT fly fast enough to break the sound barrier.

Getting back to this OC's family and friends…..oh my….aside from having two Canon parents, this OC is also related to six other Canons (and a few that the Mod doesn't recognize, so possibly more). They're also friends with the main group of Autobots and two major Decepticons. Yes, because in the middle of a violent war, it's easy to so openly be best buddies with members of both sides.

Please don't do this. Unless you have very reasonable and detailed explanations for why this OC would be best buddies with so many Autobots and Decepticons (as well as being related to them), please don't do this. This is a terrible red flag and is a cliche that's been done to death in far too many fandoms for far too long.

The personality is a list…and if you've been with this blog for very long, you'd remember that listing traits for the personality is one of Mod TCA's biggest pet peeves. There's also nothing negative about this OC's personality - he's entirely positive. This is extremely unbalanced, and I won't even call this personality finished. You can't have a rounded character unless the good is evened out by the bad. There has to be a balance.

We don't really need to know who would play this OC's voice, but alright...

COLOR SCHEMES ARE NOT INHERITED. Yes TFA does have Cybertronian genetics to some degree. No this does not mean a character's paint job is included in said genetics. Please keep in mind that Cybertronians are at their base mechanical beings. Their protoforms are lifeless gray. Paint comes later. Paint is purely aesthetic. I reiterate: COLOR SCHEMES ARE NOT INHERITED.

Additionally, in TFA there are two traits this OC possesses that directly go against Canon, and those traits are: a non-Decepticon having red optics, and an Autobot flyer. Unless this OC exists AFTER the Jet Twins (I think he'd have to, for everyone on both sides to be so buddy buddy), he cannot be an Autobot flyer. The Autobots do not have Seeker frames. I don't even know of an exception to this rule. Before the Jet Twins, the Autobots did NOT have flyers; flying was a Decepticon thing. 

Also, the Jet Twins (who are the only two Autobot flyers in the timeline) don't even look like conventional Seekers. They're the exception, not the rule.

Same thing with an Autobot having red optics. In TFA, there is no exemplar; no special circumstances. It's not done, and I don't even know of a loophole you could exploit to do it. Autobots do not have red optics, and OPTIC COLORS ARE NOT INHERITABLE.

Now we're getting into the OC's backstory, so buckle your seatbelts and secure all loose items. Keep in mind that this OC is from an RP, even though we are critiquing it seriously. These kinds of things are alright in RPs, but they don't work in a serious fashion.

This OC was kidnapped at the age of four…by Megatron…to be hostage leverage for Allspark fragments. Blitzwing and Lugnut were supposed to guard him, but were brainwashed by the OC's baby cuteness and defected to save him from Megatron. Both 'Cons were accepted as defectors because this OC liked they so much.

This is WAR, people. Your enemies won't defect just because of a cute baby! That's highly out of character for all THREE of Blitzwing's personalities, and it's incredibly out of character for the Megatron-worshiping Lugnut! How many people do you thing those two (five, counting all of Blitzwing) murdered during these wars? They're career Decepticons! Even if they did defect, they would be arrested and charged for their warcrimes, not let off the hook because some super-speshul OC likes them!

And was everyone really that surprised by Megatron's threats of killing this OC? He's a Decepticon warlord, for Primus' sake; no doubt he's done worse shit than that in his career. Blitzwing and Lugnut followed him loyally before. Why should this event be any different (see above for my argument against them bonding with said OC)?

On another note, Cybertronians DO NOT age like humans do. Four years old for a Cybertronian is NOT the same as four years old for a human (nor is five, for that matter). It really rustles my jimmies when people don't understand this and treat Cybertronians as if they age on the same scale as humans. They do NOT and you should not treat them as if they do.

I'm going to surrender at this point, because there's not much more I can say, given that this OC is an admitted RP OC.

Overall, this character may work fine in a private RP, but he would not work in a serious setting. If ever the creator wanted to shift this OC into serious mode, I'd have to recommend the entirety of our CE Article library (with heavy focus on the OC Cliches article).

TFP Deceptibot

"Deceptibot" referring to a Decepticon-turned-Autobot in some way. Alternatively, "Autocon" would be an Autobot-turned-Decepticon in some way.
