Larch (Larix) tree, also called tamarack. Taken in Rotary Park, Calgary AB on August 23, 2015. This is a soft wood deciduous tree, however it is the hardest of the soft woods. They turn yellow in fall and drop their needles. Turpentine is found in the needles, bark and resin. A tea of the needles is carminative and expels gas. A bath with the needles will sooth sore joints.
