Hi, I'm an aspiring digital artist and I've been a fan of your blog for a long time now! I think I've sent a few art pieces your way before...but I was wondering if you had any tips for someone who's just beginning? It seems to me like you've been at this for a while and I really admire you. Thanks again, you're the best fox mom a guy can have.

Hi!! It makes me really happy to see an aspiring artist and also one who would ask me for advice, thank you!!!!

Of course my first piece of advice is to practice!!!! Like literally a shit ton of practice is necessary and really really good for people beginning digital art. I know so many people already say that, but if you really draw and practice continuously, you’ll eventually create an art style that’s easy and convenient for you, and drawing things will be more like reflex rather than trial and error.

Another thing is to use references as much as you want, whether it’s tracing a stock photo or looking at an actual person to see visible proportions to draw and make your art look how you want :0

Also remember it’s okay if things don’t turn out how you want and also it’s fine to erase a canvas and start over i mean i do that all the time tbh

Speaking of canvases, I’m not sure how much this will help, but I find it easier to start with canvases ranging around 2000x2000 pixels (so i can zoom in and it wont look too pixelated) and just making the resolution to a smaller size when I’m completely done with the drawing

Also don’t shade with black unless u think its really necessary

That’s about all I can think of right now!
