Difficulty Choosing what game to play?

Make a list.

So let's say you're like me and have hundreds of games, either digital or physical, purchased or otherwise obtained, and you're suffering from decision paralysis and you wanna start making your way through your backlog.

first, use an app like Gameye, or a site like Backloggery to take stock of what games you have, and what platform they're on, or you could be a weirdo and use an excel spreadsheet. (Why you would subject yourself to that torture I don't know, but you do you.)

Then, make a list of all the franchises you wanna play through, and the games in that franchise, and what system you have it for/wanna play it on. Some games have multiple versions, and some releases are better than others. Also make a separate section for games that don't have a franchise and are one-offs. I use a cheaper moleskin notebook that has all the games I want to eventually play written down, sorted by series, then the individual games, with a little room to add new games as they come out.

That's helpful for franchises that typically release new games every year or so, that way you can add it on.

Then make a list of your franchises, and a second list of the platforms you have access to. Number the franchises. Then sort out the platforms by manufacturer/whether it's Console or PC.

Here's an example of what I did for mine.

Now, when you wanna play something, or decide which franchise/platform library you wanna play through, or just an individual game, you have a way to break it down.

Flip a coin for Franchise or Platform. If a franchise, then use a random number generator set to the amount of franchises you have to select the franchise. Then start with either the oldest game in the series, or if like Kingdom Hearts they've been made out of order, the earliest on in the story you have. If It's a platform, then roll a dice, or number generator, to select the manufacturer, then roll again for platform, and roll again for an individual game from that library.

Yes this is overly thought out, but I wanna play some games and chip away at my backlog, and i don't always know where to start, because brain dumb. It no like making decisions. and I probably could come up with a better way to sort out all the games I wanna play then having them written in a notebook, but the only way i'll lose that is if my apt burns down, so there's that.

In case anyone’s wondering why it’s taking 9999 years for me to post another one-shot, I’ve got 2 reasons. 1: I have multiple ideas on how to write it and I can’t decide. ;-;

2: I’m starting to plan the Industrial Area’s rewrite. (Ignore the fact that I only finished The Dockyard Killer...)

So, uh, have patience. I’ve promised myself to have the next one-shot up by the 10th, at least. Because I like the number 10. As for the fanfic rewrite? Well, I’m hoping to get the first chapter before the end of this year, but with my procrastination? No promises.

I decided that it was time to look into doing my Masters degree....

I have 1 month to get all of the shit needed to apply and it’s just so daunting, I have no desire to fill out all this paperwork and go back through every old essay to find good profs to contact to references and ughhhhhhh

and the plus its so much money to just APPLY and then potentially not even be accepted, which is just....fear of rejection of very real so no thanks, but I should really do it....but it’s gonna be brutal Being an adult is the fucking absolute worst thing
