State of the Press
From time to time folks ask what the print shop is like at the hotel, so, here is a little guided tour: First off you see the Adana 5x3 press, the box for larger quads, leads and slugs. On the bottom right is the chase on the composing stone.
Of course, in order to print one needs type, so in the drawer is the house font,10pt Europe maigre, cuts of hotel logos, stamps, erasers & rulers.
There is also a drawer for proofs of each project printed on the press.
Under which is a selection of strings and adhesive tape.
The newly found cabinet holds supplies, the chase and stone when not in use, a box of lineoleum cuts and tools, a hole puncher, more rulers, tools and...
... a drawer with Japanese Katakana type, pencil leads, ink for pens and staples.
We recently received new tubes of ink in official hotel colors, just now working on the first project with them.
The deckled-edge cutters are on standby waiting for duty!
The 72pt Futura medium and 84pt Futura bold give us some size when we need it. Tour's over for now, back to printing!
