The Ballad of Little Jo (1993, Maggie Greenwald)

Hard not to take a liking to Jo’s unsung hero. Her character and world are tenderly crafted by lead actress Suzy Amis and writer-director Maggie Greenwald.

And it has more production value to it than you might expect. Gracefully shot by Declan Quinn, who would go on to work more than once with Jonathan Demme, Mike Figgis, Mira Nair and Jim Sheridan.
