WAUGH WAUGH WAUGH YAYAYAYAYAY YAY YAY!!!! YAY HI HELLO!!!!!!!! HYPED TO HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT IT OMG
Declaw is a furry slasher horror following Lenore Saint-Clair, Granth Grimm and (by chapter three and beyond) Mitică Soleanu. Lenore and Granth grew up together, and Lenore went to college with Mit before dropping out, but I don’t wanna spoil how he joins them too much.
Years back, Granth and Lenore would joke about murdering her abusive godfather, not just to save her but also any other kid who had to be around him as well (he’s a priest, so church kids are around him often). Now, in 2008, when they’re both in their late twenties, they actually go through with this idea and murder him, taking his body hours away after and cutting him into pieces, and then spreading those pieces around Oregon for hours. This isn’t the plot though— this is just the prologue.
The start is that after that day, Lenore grows paranoid— they didn’t bury his head to avoid identification, so it’s been in the cabinet of her bathroom sink. However, when they finally do decide to leave the house to get her mind off it, it turns out everyone she knew growing up has become strangely aggressive and now wants her dead, despite none of them actually knowing what occured. THAT is the plot— a new person from her past tries to attack the trio or each other, and then they are killed in self defense.
The story is about nostalgia, refusal to change, the cycle of abuse, paranoia, and burying the sick before attempting to understand them. It’s incredibly queer and has a handful of references to disability (in fact, all three main characters are also intended to be disabled)
Lenore is a well-meaning, awkward woman just barely managing not to act as bad as she used to, Granth is an overprotective punk who’s insanely independent with anyone but her, and Mitică is a D-list model who got dragged into the whole thing by sheer accident and can’t escape being around them even if he tried.
I’m slowly learning to 3D model and I’m hoping once I get a job or start doing commissions that I can eventually start up a kickstarter and hire coders etc, because as of right now I really want this to be a video game once I finish the full final draft version of the story 🩷
