📍1) NOMINATIVE - used for the subject of a construction, e.g. àš mýliu katès (I love cats)
📍2) GENETIVE - used for objects with certain verbs, e.g. íeškau jõ (I’m looking for him) - used for objects in negative constructions, e.g. àš tavę̃s taĩp ìlgai nemáčiu (I haven’t seen you for so long) - used after the prepositions ìš (from), añt (on), ìki (until), põ (after), priẽ (near), bè (without) and ùž (behind)
📍3) DATIVE - used for indirect objects, e.g. dùok mán tą̃ knỹgą (give me that book), nè mirtiẽs jám baisù (death is not horrible for him) - used with some impersonal verbs - taú reĩkia eĩti nãmo (you need [by you it is needed] to go home)
📍4) ACCUSATIVE - used for the object of a construction, e.g. àš jái niekadà neatléisiui (I will never forgive her) - used after the prepositions į (to/into), pàs (by/at), pèr (across, through during), ùž (for) and apiẽ (about)
📍5) INSTRUMENTAL - used to show how an action is completed; also gives a sense of ‘with’, ‘because of’ or ‘by’ e.g. jì didžiúojasi savimì (she is proud of herself) - used after prepositions põ (under) and sù (with)
📍6) LOCATIVE - used to show someone/something being in someone/something else, e.g. manyjè gyvẽna milijónai (millions live inside me - the name of a book about bacteria lol)
📍7) POSSESSIVE - used to show possession - jū́sų arklỹs (your horse) - used to indicate an agent in passive constructions - láiškas bùvo màno parašýtas (the letter was written by me)
