What made you pick up this character? (I saw this on another meme so naturally I’m curious! Heh)
Aaaah thank you for letting me gush!! Well, why did I pick him up?
Long story short: love.
Long story long: Around that time I was playing Crowley who, at first, I didn't like but I found the him interesting. He promised to be fun to write. Which slowly made me like him more and more. But then I saw Cain on screen and I instantly fell in love with this character, because he got introduced (by Crowley) as this super scary dude. But he turned out to be that totally down-to-earth retired old man who just wanted to be left alone. The more we learned about him, the more I loved him. And then came the turn after he smote all those demons, gave into the mark's influence again and yes... became this super scary dude.
However, I didn't want to write a character simply because I love them since that's no guarantee you'll play them well or the muse sticks. None of the muses I had before were charas I loved. Usually I just saw the potential fun playing them had and I ended up loving them on the long run. But as I kept playing Crowley, I failed to get Cain out of my mind and the urge to give him more story grew bigger until I couldn't any longer ignore it. I was thinking about this wonderful character all. the. time. He's a one with so much potential which got wasted in the show.
Plus, while I adore villains Not getting redemption and instead remaining baddies, Cain wasn't actually a villain. He was the victim of a curse that drove him mad, when all he initially wanted was to save his brother. While underneath all that brutal tragedy he was just a guy. One who lived long enough to be wise af, who could redeem himself if given the chance; which the mark's removal in canon would've granted him if he had lived by then. ANYWAY. I gave him a shot although I didn't think people would be interested, considering he was in 2 episodes only. I was wrong. He soon took over and here we are.
