baconwrapped dates
Time: March Location: Dates Status: Closed, for @dedalusdigg
And this time he wouldn’t pay.
That’s what Dedalus Diggle had said, or implied, really, when Lu had lost their bet and agreed to this date. Date? Dinner. Dinner date? And at first, Lu had thought it funny, that Dedalus would waste his wish for winning the bet on something so plain and simple, when Lu was notorious for doing most anything if asked.
Well. If paid.
And therein lay the genius, didn’t it? Never had anyone asked Lu to go on a simple, honest dinner, just like that. Or, really, never had Lu accepted. Their life had been a wild, golden and exuberantly eccentric one so far, and of course, not every experience had been driven by money. Not the wild experiences, anyway. Not the golden ones. Not the exuberantly eccentric ones. But the simple ones. The supposed-to-be-honest ones.
The ones people usually experienced without getting paid.
When chasing the impossible, Lu was the embodiment of that chase. When in the realms of the possible, that is, when following the wishes of another, they were the embodiment of that wish. So who were they without chase, without wish? The limitless had no limitations, only themselves. Their own imagination. If one wanted to shake someone like Lu by force of detonation, one needed to aim for implosion, not explosion. And as Lu attended the dinner date not as someone who was a shell of possibilities, not a vehicle of chase, but someone who was but themself -- they feared they’d find their limit.
Who were they when not getting paid?
Fear took over, yes, as they entered the restaurant. They were scared and it made their stomach feel weird. Scared to mess this up. To forget how to act. To disappoint Dedalus. They sat -- appropriately dressed -- and tasted the suggested wine, and ordered a meal, and enjoyed the dessert and happily held the witty back-and-forth of the. They did everything just as they always did.
When paid.
But the moment Dedalus appeared, visually loud with this Leo aura of his, the moment he had floated up to them, Lu had been just the same as always. Someone who laughed and listened and applauded long speeches. Or perhaps someone who had unlearnt how to be anyone else? But would their laugh sound this easily, then? Would they still be so eager to toss quips and see Dedalus’ smile? Would they still find themselves glancing at him over their wine glass’ rim as they sipped, unprompted, just because there was nowhere better to glance towards? Would it, if all this was but habit and routine, still feel so genuine? Or was the genuineness of it also part of habit and routine?
Either way. This time he didn’t pay, and Lu was happy all the same.
deal?

Maddy tightened the grip around her virgin cocktail a little tighter, frowned with determination. “For the first month you receive the full profit of what I sell, the second 50% and the third 50% of that, and so on, until we’ve reached zero. By then I should have my own shop anyway. You wouldn’t make any losses, assuming that the more people know about my business, the more people come, the more income I make, so those 50% would in true numbers continuously grow, making you the same amount of money every month.” She’d done the maths by herself, but even Gerry had said it was correct. So she said all this confidently.
But then she had to pause, tried to rapidly go through what she still had to say to make sure it was all safe and sound, and when it was, she went on: “If, however, less people come because no one is interested in my shop, then I’d run out of capital by the end of the three months, which would only be a marginal loss compared to your habitual income generated from that small section of the shop.” Unfortunately, this was the biggest bit based on speculation: she’d never been to Mister Dedalus’ sweets shop, and for all she knew, there was no such thing as a poor-running section there. But she just had to trust that every business had a few ideas that didn’t work as well as others.
“But I don’t think that’ll happen,” she therefore continued hastily, “because I know at least three dozen of people who rely on my business, and I assume no one would walk into your beautiful sweets shop looking for ballpens without also getting side-tracked by extraordinary cotton candy clouds and delicious chocolate flies.” She added a smile, hoping the compliments would find a home. “So what do you think, Diggl-, Mister Dedalus.”
🗳️ alice, edgar, caradoc & 🔪 dorcas, lucinda, maddy
🗳️vote for, vote against, run against
Vote for Alice. LOL all the ones with Alice are just complicated by the fact that Frank will literally not be supportive of his wife
Vote against Edgar. Frank is already so confused by him lol
Run against Caradoc. Honestly Frank probably wouldn’t mind losing to Caradoc
🔪 protect, attack, fight side-by-side with
Protect Maddy. The most he really knows about Maddy is that she’s working with Dig, and thus just an extension of him. Too bad their shop didn’t open lol otherwise maybe Frank would know her better
Attack Dorcas. She can take it, and she needs to be surprised more often
Fight side-by-side with Lucinda. Frank doesn’t know Lucinda very well, but she seems like a good fighter
🎉 snape, regulus, fabian & 🍪 emmeline, remus, lily
🎉
hang out with - Snape. Listen. He already knows his secret. And while he wouldn’t exactly be first choice to hang out with, at least they could try and talk potions or something like that and not be at each others throats too much?
party with - Fabian. If only because he’s sure that Snape and Regulus don’t know how to party, and because Fabian is nice to him.
ghost - Regulus, because he’s still rather terrified of Regulus tbh.
🍪 - Oh man this one is hard.
make cookies for - Emmeline, because he thinks she’s very nice and sweet and that maybe she’d like if he brought her cookies.
make a five-course meal for - Lily, because he feels like he owes her after all that’s happened, and maybe it would be his way of trying to make her still like him and not want to, you know, murder him.
burn all their food. - Remus, and the ONLY reason is because Peter really can’t cook that great and he feels like Remus would be the one to actually laugh with/at him over him accidentally burning all the food.
💋 kiran, frank, bran & 🦋 efa, regulus, emma
💋 - hug, cuddle, kiss.
hug cuddle and kiss: frank tbh lol besties for life
no but if he has to pick hug bran awkwardly if he was forced to
cuddle frank and kiss kiran on the cheek
🦋 - befriend, adopt, ignore.
befriend: efa (cutie)
adopt: emma (adorable)
ignore: regulus (why so bad)
💬 trust with a secret, trust w his life, trust with his wallet, gideon, isla, marlene
Secret: Isla
Life: Gideon/Marlene
Wallet: No one? He’s a halfblood who grew up in pureblood society. He knows what pureblood spending habits are and doesn’t think he can afford them.
the moon
Can they find beauty in hurtful situations?
Sirius would like to believe he can, but he’s really struggling with that right now. Between James’ murder, Florean’s murder, Peter’s whatever-deep-shit-he’s-in, Remus’ outing, the Order’s general frustrations, and Snape’s irritating proximity, he’s wearing a little thin right now.
Do they push to follow their dreams or do they wait idly by?
Sirius has never had a clear direction for what he wanted in life, except to be near his friends. He would mostly say he’s gone with the flow for most of his life.
What paralyzes my muse emotionally?
At this point? Losing anyone else, especially someone like Lily, Remus, or Peter.
