1. What was your very first fandom, if any?
Oh my god that was so long ago. It was Kingdom Hearts. Especially the second one. I did so much bad fanart. It was through my adoration of Kingdom Hearts fanartists that I got into anime. And then the anime fans made me get into video games and then back to other forms of tv. It's all Kingdom Hearts fault.
But I mean I've been obsessed with things my whole life. When I was a toddler I had to watch the Aristocats at least three times a day. It's just my personality. KH was just the first time I used the internet to gush.
2. In Supernatural, Ash tells Sam and Dean that everyone gets their on personal heaven. Assuming you would get to the attic, and not down to the basement, describe yours: I had to think really really hard about this one. There is a really great Japanese film called After Life and the premise is after you die, you have to pick one memory and that is all you remember for eternity.
Anyways, my heaven would be a recreation of my summer spent in Kyoto with my family. It was peaceful. My family was there. It was completely away from all chaos and responsibility in my life. I don't have anything negative attached to it.
It seems like a pretty good place to spend eternity.
3. Favorite summer treat? Cantaloup! Fresh, New Jersey cantaloup. I crave it all year.
4. Favorite winter pastime? Is drinking hot apple cider in the snow a pastime because that is without a doubt my favorite thing. Walking back from my classes with giant sketchbooks through the overly crowded union square holiday market and buying a hot apple cider and a weird gourmet cookie (or waffle). I wish I could do it all year 'round.
5. Recall your first crush: Welp. I only consider myself as ever having two real crushes in my life and you know both of them I think (Nathan M. and Q?). So I'm going to tell you about the kid in my kindergarden class that I decided I liked so I kissed him on the back of the head while he was drinking from the water fountain. Everyone mocked me for that for a long time. He wore a green and black stripe shirt every day. When I moved away from Canada he gave me some plastic stick on gems to remember him by.
True romance.
Also, all of these crushes are pretty evenly spaced out in time which I find great. I give up for years after each one.
6. What have you been wanting recently? Money to pay off my debts? A bed for my apartment? Haha.
Actually, no, I really really want some alone time, oh my god. I just want a few days with no other humans around where I can draw and watch movies and sleep in late and get stuff done without feeling guilty. Just me and my kitties.
7. Name the first band that meant the world to you: I don't think any band ever really meant much to me. I've never really been a great music fan.
But, oh my god, I'm embarrassed, Ludo came the closest. I still listen to Ludo. I think I only liked Ludo because you (Elspeth) liked Ludo. Or at least I know you played Love Me Dead on your gaia profile. Jeez, that was a long time ago. I liked Ludo. I still like Ludo.
8. How old were you when you first started going online, and what site did you frequent most? I don't know. I remember using dial up which sucked. It was young though. I got really into Neopets when I was nine, according to my Neopet's profile. Yikes, that account is ten years old and I never even managed to get a Drake or a Krawk. I'm disappointed in myself. I never even made a million neopoints.
But, uh, I think I was pretty hooked on Yahoo games when I was seven or eight, soooo. Dude, I've grown up on the internet.
9. Do you believe in the soul, and if yes, do you believe the soul implies the possible existence of ghosts? I completely believe in ghosts and I completely believe in the soul but I'm not 100% they actually go together. I'm really on the fence about what ghosts actually are. I like the theory that they are somehow just imprints, like time just got a little funky in some spots. I've got a lot of crackpot theories that I should not go into. I'm going to look insane.
10. Even if you don’t dance, what music makes you want to dance if you could? I'm not even ashamed, I jam out hard to pop music. I'll also jam out to electro-swing.
11. Write something that’s been plaguing your brain recently: I keep having breakdowns that I'm not good enough to be in the Illustration program. That bothers me so much. I need to get out of this self pitying crap and just sit down and draw...Which luckily in the past few days I have been doing. I followed a bunch of artists on tumblr and I'm feeling ok again. We all start somewhere.
