While I'm waiting for a small list of folks to read through the second draft of my FIRST queer romance novel, over the weekend I just broke 20K on the rough draft of the sequel - because I've been feeling really fucked up about the death of Nex Benedict and apparently I process queer trauma by writing now.
(There are worse coping mechanisms, I suppose.)

Reality star White Dee decides to go for Botox treatment
It may have seemed like her 15 minutes of fame were over and done with, but breakout personality of TV show Benefits Street is not willing to let go of her time in the spotlight just yet and she has now decided to have Botox injections as she strives for TV fame.
The reality TV celebrity known as White Dee – real name Dee Kelly – is said to be having the anti-wrinkle treatment regularly at a surgery in Cannock, according to Birmingham Mail.
Apparently, the Benefits Street celebrity is hoping that her cosmetic surgery will be the start of her TV career and her Birmingham-based agent Barry Tomes has said that Dee is hoping to get a role in ITV comedy Benidorm, which is due to start filming in March. The Birmingham native is hoping to make an appearance in the popular show as her agent explains that there have been ‘discussions’ about Dee having at least a walk-on role, but possibly more than that.
As well as getting Botox injections, White Dee hired a personal trained two years ago in an effort to get in shape so she could ‘crack America.’

When former Benefits Street star Dee Kelly – who was better known as White Dee during her stint on the controversial Channel 4 documentary series – left the Celebrity Big Brother house in fifth place a few weeks ago, it was reported that her career in TV was about to take off…
She was apparently set to film her own cookery show, having had cooking lessons from a top chef in France, and had been suggested for a role in a new film about the life of poet Richard Billingham, whose hard-hitting book Ray’s a Laugh was shortlisted for the Turner Prize.
It was also reported that her agent Barry Tomes had signed her up to make lucrative personal appearances in nightclubs up and down the country…
However, her future plans have reportedly hit a major snag as The Sun claims today that Dee has been denied a visa to enter America after it was alleged that she has a criminal conviction.
The paper states that Dee had been due to jet out to the US to meet up with fellow former CBB housemates Gary Busey – who of course won the show – Audley Harrison and Leslie Jordan, however, the article adds, “US authorities found out she stole £13,000 from Birmingham city council to feed her partner’s cocaine habit in 2007 and denied her a visa.”
When approached for comment, her agent said only, “We have had to reschedule.”
Meanwhile, Dee has been telling her Twitter followers that she’ll be attending the Tory conference in Birmingham in order to give PM David Cameron a piece of her mind…
Last night, she wrote, “Time to call it a night – big day tomorrow at the #toryconference in birmingham – hope to meet #DavidCameron to say it how it really is x”
One of her followers then tweeted to Dee saying, “@therealdeekelly I hope they don’t use you to pretend they give a sh** about real people. Millionaires with no clue about real life.”
Dee replied, “@susiepip they probably wont give a sh** to be fair hun but at least i (we) get to have a say and it will be well recorded x”
Well, if nothing else, a conversation between Dee and Cameron should make for entertaining viewing!

When Dee Kelly left the Celebrity Big Brother house recently, having made it into the final six housemates, her agent Barry Tomes promised that there are big things ahead for the Brummie, and he intimated that he’d landed her a role in a movie…
And evidently, that deal is now done as it’s been reported this week that Dee – who shot to fame on Channel 4 documentary series Benefits Street where she was known as White Dee – will indeed play the role of “an obese and heavily tattooed mother” in the film that depicts the childhood years of Birmingham photographer, Richard Billingham.
The film is an adaptation of Billingham’s book ‘Ray’s A Laugh’ which was published in 1996, in which he documented a childhood blighted by poverty as he was raised by his alcoholic father and “morbidly obese” mother.
The movie, which is apparently to be entitled ‘Ray and Liz’, will be filmed in October, and of Dee’s role in it, Tomes told the Mirror, “We’ve only seen Dee as herself. She’s not a dancer, singer or actor.
“I think it will be really interesting to see her playing someone else.”
Meanwhile, Dee’s apparently now former Benefits Street pal ‘Black Dee’, whose real name is Samora Roberts, has appeared in court in Birmingham this week to enter a not guilty plea over charges relating to allegations of supplying illegal drugs.
The Sun reports, “She appeared with three other residents of Birmingham’s James Turner Street — the location for Channel 4’s reality show — who all face similar charges.”
All four were apparently bailed until the case goes to trial next May.
But back to Dee, and despite Tomes’ assertions that she’s been inundated with offers of telly work, it seems the lady herself hasn’t had that memo…
