The bonfire is here! The flames have been ignited and burn brightly in the backyard of the school and it’s time to celebrate a year of survival. Drinks and snacks will be available to the group – our supply runners have even managed to scavenge marshmallows from an abandoned store – and we hope everyone can join the fun at some point.
The link to the event can be found here and the password will be issued in the OOC blog. Again, if any of you are unable to attend, please let us know! Otherwise, we hope that the rest of you will be able to join in for at least an hour or so, as we don’t want the event to go ignored. The event will last the whole weekend although the actual bonfire will take place over a six hour period (between 6pm and 12am) to allow our members as much time as they need to get online. We hope to see you there and look forward to role-playing with everyone!
On March 23rd, rising like the sun over the horizon of Port Gibson, Mississippi was an accumulating tornado on a war path. The storm was brewing thicker as the clouds began to thunder, and that was when the lightning struck. Near Port Gibson lay one of the United States’ functioning nuclear power plants, which was the first victim of the storm. The lightning struck a substation that carried electricity to and from its generating station, causing the systems to overload in an unexpected high velocity attack. The emergency generators were no use as the singed electrical cords became a growing fire hazard, and soon, the world was exposed to what would be known as the largest turnaround in human history.
It's been a year. A year since disaster struck the United States of America like a wrecking-ball and changed society as we knew it. The Earth is quiet, with very few survivors left, but those who remain are strong and fit, building up communities all around America and trying to salvage what little is left of a normal society. While it's certainly time to celebrate the survival of the living, it is also time to commemorate the dead and those we have lost along the way to get where we are now. While we may still be alive now, we may not be for much longer and we must be grateful for every day we have left. The world is a dangerous place and it will overpower us if we allow us to, so we must remain strong. So, keep safe and remember – keep watching the skies.
In celebration of our survivors, there will be a bonfire this weekend, which we hope everyone can attend. It will be held in a Chatzy and will be open for the duration of the weekend, but will be set in a fixed time period of around 6 hours. While we know it may not be easy for everyone to get online at the weekend, we would appreciate it if you can let us know if you cannot attend the event. Details will follow.
