αѕ тнєу came to terms with tears still in his eyes, Hans agreed without hesitation. He would give it his all to care for his younger sister. On her deathbed, for the first time Hans saw his mother smile peacefully, as if her weary soul had been allowed rest. Shackled by expectation and crippled by the pressure heaped upon her by everyone, Hans knew that he had to kill the legacy that made his mother famous.
Of course, who wouldn’t have heard of Adrianne Holt, otherwise known as ‘Paganini of the Piano’ for her intense and quick-paced style. IT was a style that he memorized from his younger days as an aspiring pianist, eager to perpetuate the legacy she set before she fell from grace long ago.
Everyone he met would speak wrongly of hr at his back, calling her a crazed teacher bitter about her disqualification and desperate for victory to have raised him like a puppet. Yet, he paid them no mind. Liberated from suppressed thoughts, Hans instead expended his frustration and anger in his music. At first, many were surprised: his style was more melodious, filled with soul and calming harmonies. What he played instead was both passionate, aggressive and awe-inspiring. Many of the songs some even scoffed at being impossible to execute with a single piano alone. Was it right, therefore, that he put his mother’s legacy to rest with the same style at which she played?
The burden of the weight she carried was indeed heavy. Too much was expected from the puppet-son of a once famous Pianist. Instead, he braved through the monster of expectation that devoured his mother, instead going on to exceed her as a Pianist, to the point where he was renowned for his skill. Of course, that story ended when he decided to never again play the piano on a competitive level, but the contrast between his gentle natured playing style with the furious and spirited style of his mother was too great that it burned a memory in those who had seen him play.
Riposa in Pace is one of his iconic songs, a composition by his mother finished by Hans himself, it was the song that some still remember him by. He felt that the song was apt to finally release the burden that was set upon his mother, but he had a few other songs which he finished penning, all in the style of his mother. They are:
Nacht der Blüte [lit: Blooming Night]
Todeswalzer [lit: Death Waltz]
氷のハート [lit: Heart of Ice]
ネイティブフェイス [lit: Native Faith]
