World/American Timeline - Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
“If the cause is advanced, indifferent is it to me where or in what quarter it happens.” - George Washington
December 16, 1773 - Protests by Colonists regarding the imposition of additional taxes to wheat farmers in Boston ends in a massacre by Brittonian security forces. The notorious event, termed ‘The Tea Party Massacre’ prompts mass outrage through the Colonies. The Revolutionary Congress is formed in response to ineffective sanctions by Brittonia to limit self-rule.
April 19, 1775 - The event known as Parker’s Ambush ignites the Great Revolutionary War between the Brittonian Empire and the Revolutionary Colonial States. After receiving intelligence that Brittonian forces sought to control the gunpowder stores and armaments in Concord, Revolutionary forces set up a cunning ambush that resulted in 128 Brittonian Regulars dead or injured, repelling the Brittonians in the process. In response, Loyalists to the Brittonian Empire successfully repel the Revolutionary Army’s attempts to besiege Boston.
July 6, 1776 - The Revolutionary Congress formally votes for Independence, signing it’s declaration in June 6. The Brittonian Army, supported by Canadian Auxiliaries from the north outmaneuver George Washington in his defense of New York and Washington, prompting a retreat by the Revolutionary Forces. Claude Valentine is appointed as the Ambassador of the Revolutionary States.
September 10, 1777 - While the battle of Saratoga ends inconclusively with an ongoing stalemat, Claude Valentine formally makes a plea to Gibraltar (Spain) for aid in the war. However, due to possible interception by the Brittonian navy, the Ambassador had to take a land route to Saubure (France) in order to reach the court.T he first ‘incident’ involving the Kabane occurs in Ottoman-controlled Cyprus, but largely goes unnoticed. The entire isle is eventually overrun within 2 month’s time.
July 7, 1778 - After listening to their plea the Sauburean King Louis the 12th officially pledges support to the Revolutionary Colonial States. Hellenistic Greece asks for help from the other European powers in an attempt to suppress the Kabane onslaught, but the plea is waved off by other European powers, dismissing the news as ludicrous and nothing more than ‘The Greek Cough’. Sardinia and Corsica fall to the kabane by way of infected refugees attempting to flee accidentally making landfall there.
January 12, 1779 - Despite intending to land in Manchuria(China), Claude Valentine and his delegation are forced to land in Hinomoto because of powerful sea storms that nearly destroyed their vessel. Their formal request for help from the Shogun goes unanswered, but the Shogun’s Heir, Prince Takumi readily accepts, allowing the Americans to resupply for their journey home. Aboard his flagship Hinoka, the Prince sails with 100 Samurai along with the Delegation back towards America. Meanwhile, the first incident of the Kabane virus making landfall in Europe occurs in Amalfi, Italia (Italy) , Nice, Saubure and Izmir, Ottoman Empire (Turkey).
March 30, 1780 - While the Siege of Charleston continues, news of the alarming ‘Revenant Disease’ began to circulate as Saubure is steadily overrun by the Kabane over the course of 8 months. For the first time Europe seriously acknowledges the threat of the Kabane, naming the creatures ‘Revenants’ for their undead visage. An expeditionary army sent by the Brittonian Empire in an attempt to annex Suburean territory is utterly annihilated. The Kabane soon sweep over Gibraltar through it’s Sauburean territory in the East. Gibraltar is nearly overwhelmed by the flood of refugees, only further inflaming conditions and allowing the Revenant Disease to spread in abundance. Gibraltar is overrun in a matter of months.
November 19, 1781 - When the Revenant disease was no longer pushed aside as a simple ‘cough’ the European powers desperately turned their focus towards the spreading contagion, prompting the Brittonian Empire to simply abandon their Americas colony. Prince Takumi perishes in the battle of Yorktown, yet his courageous charge galvanizes the demoralized soldiers into repelling the formidable Loyalist counterattack, maintaining a hold of the siege. Starved of supplies and choked by the siege, the Loyalist city of Yorktown surrenders to George Washington. While some intermittent fighting between Loyalists to the Brittonian empire continue, resistance is largely localized to small pockets of resistance as the Revolutionary Congress begins the task of rebuilding the country. Meanwhile the Virus makes it’s way through Manchuria, eventually overrunning Joseon (Korea) in the process.
September 7, 1792 - By this time, most of Europe is completely overrun by the Kabane. Humanity remains only in isolated and well-defended fortresses or in offshore territories far from the Kabane’s reach. The resulting halt in trade from Scotland and Britonnia prompts a collapse in the economy of Eire (Ireland). Combined with the outbreak of a fungus that devastated the potato harvest and bodies of kabane washing up on the shore, Eire is utterly devastated by the outbreak of the Kabane. With the Brittonians forced to shoot at any refugee attempting to find shelter in Brittonia, beleaguered and starving Eirish refugees make their way Westward in an attempt to flee from the virus. The first instance of a Wazatori, named ‘Abnormals’ by the Europeans is observed during the Razing of Dublin. Meanwhile, news of the disease is not taken seriously by the Revolutionary Congress, even as discontent towards slave-holding states down south begin to fester. Rumors brought by the Eirish refugees regarding the kabane prompts the imprisonment of the refugees in confined camps within the eastern shores of Americe.
January 1, 1803 - After periods of relative calm in reconstruction-era America, the very first instance of Kabane makes landfall in Norfolk Harbor, Virginia. A desolate refugee ship crashes right into the port, unleashing it’s cargo of ravenous Kabane. Within weeks, the entire state of Virginia is totally overrun. The events that lead up to this prompts the Revolutionary Congress to amend the constitution’s 2nd Amendment to allow for conscription towards the battle against the Kabane. However, the poor discipline and lack of understanding towards their new enemy easily decimates the first contingents sent to fight back the Kabane.
October 24, 1805 - The spread of the disease spreads Southward, as North and South Carolina as well as West Virginia and Maryland are completely overrun. Cut off from the main-land, Florida and New York eventually falls to the Kabane months. However, Commander Thomas Jackson successfully repels the Kabane onslaught in Cleveland Ohio, earning him the name ‘Stonewall’ for his excellent command and tactics. Information regarding the Kabane slowly surfaces, including the ‘Iron cage’ surrounding their hearts and the transmission vectors. Despite this, the Revolutionary States of America loses ground to the kabane, seceding Ohio, Georgia and Alabama to the Kabane months after.
March 28, 1808 - While breakthroughs in gunpowder technology allows the Revolutionary Army to slow the advance of the Kabane, months of protracted fighting eventually ends in America seceding entire Eastern side of America from Texas to North Dakota. Commander ‘Stonewall’ Jackson develops a practical defense method against the Kabane, modifying the line-fire formation of the Britonnians in order to serve as a depth-fire defense method, allowing the city of Denver to hold off against the Kabane onslaught. Cities are fortified with massive walls and moats to slow down the Kabane with the development of trains and mandatory military service. With these advances the Americans are able to hold off the Kabane from encroaching through too much territory.
June 14, 1810 - With the Westward push of the Kabane stalled by the defense of the now-experienced Revolutionary Army, founder of the Marine Corps Franklin Wharton begins to campaign for a reclamation of the Eastern lands. Many join the cause as his numbers swell to nearly 100,000 able-bodied soldiers. After a few month’s delays the June Offensive begins as Franklin and his soldiers soldiers reclaim Rapid City, though at heavy cost. It marks the first time America has been able to win back ground against the Kabane.
August 18, 1810 - The June offensive comes to a total end when the resilient fortress-city of Denver falls to what some call the ‘Black Fog’, cutting off Franklin Wharton and his men from their supplies deep within Kabane territory. Demoralized and deprived of basic needs the entire June Offensive army is completely annihilated in their defense of Rapid City. Caught off guard by the sudden opening the kabane then isolate and destroy countless other cities, pushing back the front lines deeper to the West.
November 4th, 1812 - The front lines fall considerably as the Kabane completely overrun the states of Arizona all the way up to Montana. American appetite for large-scale land reclamation offensives wane, as the focus falls into building formidable fortifications and weaponry to repel the Kabane. Large fortress-cities are built, often with 2 to 3 layers of walls almost 40 meters tall and surrounded by moats formed in order to repel the kabane. An extensive railway system, overlooked by Forts within the interior keep the railways reasonably safe from the Kabane. The acting president of the Revolutionary States of America, James Madison allows for the creation of the Revolutionary American Marine corps, despite the disgraceful outcome of Franklin Wharton. These soldiers man the forts dotted along the railway systems of Western America, as well as alongside the professional army stationed within the massive Fortress-cities of Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Anaheim and Helena. By this time, the Kabane’s momentum slows considerably, though the Kabane remain a persistent an deadly threat even in the Interior.
November 19, 1817 - Despite the fall of the Fortress-cities Las Vegas and Helena, the Americans hold the line against the kabane. New technologies allow for the mass production of large-ordinance weaponry such as the Franklin Wheelbarrow (Gatling Gun) and riveted pressurized Armor plates on their Armored Trains. The existence of the ‘Black Fog’ is debunked and successfully proven to be the hybrid Colonies of Kabane, two of which were successfully repelled during the fall of Las Vegas and the defense of Salt Lake city. By his time, the Americans decide to honor the contributions of Prince Takumi, vowing to send a gift to the Shogun in Hinomoto by way of a formidable Armored Train. Armed with the most up-to-date American technologies in anti-kabane warfare and manned by 200 Frontier Marines chosen for this journey, they hope to send the Armored train to Hinomoto as a gift for the fallen Prince’s sacrifice. Christened the Takumi in honor of the fallen prince, bearing the Crysanthenum Crest of the Hinoka the delegation sets sail for Hinomoto.
February 12, 1817 - During the journey to Hinomoto, 8 crewmembers die of diease. The American Delegation attempt to land in Kyushu, but find it completely overrun by Kabane. They eventually land in Iwatodai station to the South, resupplying and preparing the Takumi there. The American delegation then continue Northward, hoping to get to their destination at Kongoukaku. Relative inexperience in new terrain and overestimating the security in Hinomoto costs the delegation dearly as they pass through the abandoned stations Irako, Soushun and Hayatani at devastating cost. They lose over 117 of their original crew in the journey (including their Field Commander) before they reach the safety of Aragane station.
