అలా ముగ్గులు వేశాక పీట మీద ఒక రాగి లేదా ఇత్తడి పళ్లెం ఏర్పాటు చేయాలి. అందులో 5 చోట్ల గంధం బొట్లు, 5 చోట్ల కుంకుమ బొట్లు పెట్టాలి. ఆ తర్వాత రాగి లేదా ఇత్తడి పళ్లెంలో బియ్యాన్ని కుప్పలాగా పోయాలి. అందులో చిటికెడు పసుపు, కుంకుమ వేయాలి. ఒక గులాబీ పువ్వు కూడా పెట్టాలి. కొన్ని రూపాయి నాణెలు కనీసం 11 నాణెలు ఆ బియ్యంలో ఉంచాలి.

రెండు చిన్న మట్టి ప్రమిదలు తీసుకోవాలి. వాటికి కుంకుమ బొట్లు అలంకరించుకోవాలి. రాగి లేదా ఇత్తడి పళ్లెంలో ఉన్న బియ్యంలో మొదటి ప్రమిదను ఉంచాలి. అందులో మూడు యాలకులు, మూడు లవంగాలు, ఒక గుప్పెడు రాళ్ల ఉప్పు పోయాలి. అలా పోసిన తర్వాత మొదటి ప్రమిదలో రెండవ చిన్న ప్రమిదను ఉంచాలి. ఆ రెండవ ప్రమిదలో నువ్వుల నూనె లేదా ఆవు నెయ్యి పోసి రెండూ లేదా మూడు ఒత్తులు వేసి ఏకహారతితో కానీ ఆగరబత్తితో కానీ వెలిగించాలి. దీన్నే ధన దీపం లేదా లక్ష్మీ దీపం అని పిలుస్తారు.
