Deep as the Sea
I found you in the dark. My dark. Where my thoughts were as deep as the sea. You looked at me and asked “what are you thinking?”. I wanted to tell you that, at that moment, you were the most beautiful man I had ever seen. But as the words left the depths of my heart, they never made it out of the cavern of my mouth. Instead they redirected themselves, straight to my head where all intimate thoughts of you were sent to self-destruct. You would never feel the same. And as I answered, “nothing at all”, I know you didn’t find the sea, you found a puddle as shallow as what my thoughts appeared to be. I found you in my dark, where my thoughts were as deep as the sea, and I remained there, as I watched you walk away from me.
