i tried sending this in the replies to your post but tumblr didn't collaborate. re: the magicians books. they have their flaws (quentin constantly commenting on every woman's breasts is sure something. also book!penny is insufferable. they might be other things but that's what i remember) but despite that i did really enjoy them. the show is pretty close to them so many of the things which are good in the show are also good in the books. people love to complain about how whiny and boring quentin as a protagonist is (even more than in the show, apparently) but if you like louis in iwtv the book i don't think this will be an issue. the characters are colder and less emotional than in the show but that wasn't a problem for me. all in all i'd say give them a try
hey, thank you for sharing! i'm unfortunately a big fan of mediocre genre fiction, and cold/clinical characters are not a problem for me if the plot is entertaining enough, so i may actually give them a shot. i hadn't thought about the similarities but now that you bring up louis, i think if i had found quentin as a teenager he would have rewired my brain in just the same way louis did.
thank you again! <3
