UMMM UMMM I’d like to know more about Honey and Honeypaw

I think it's hard to talk about her now because I've shifted a lot from my priorities in storytelling compared to my initial attempt. I remember really wanting to write a deconstruction, to interrogate ideas of the narrative, and now looking back.......nah. i don't think i was a clever enough writer then to put anything interesting or groundbreaking to paper, and that doesn't appeal to me now as still a new writer finding my grounds.

Idk, her entire conception is kind of interesting to me in a critical way. She's a parody of a genre that isn't even relevant to wc comics? She's a parody of a whole other genre that I had been reading, and her story doesn't even make sense as either a parody of wc works or of the genre I was playing with lol I think she's honestly best as a silly gag character than a serious story character, ya know? I don't really think much of the story I wrote because it was such a mess.

Once the Champion of the God of Beasts, daughter of the Black Fang of BoarClan, and later known as the Crown Breaker, Dawngaze earned her name by shattering her own mother’s canines in a sanctioned duel. She came of age in the smoldering aftermath of a brutal inter-Clan war—one that ultimately narrowed into BoarClan standing alone as the aggressor against CardinalClan. Raised in a culture steeped in conflict, she was trained for battle from an early age and, like her parents, proved disturbingly adept at violence. A massive maine coon, Dawngaze is every inch a beast; her sheer size demands respect, and the scars she wears with pride are warnings enough to keep others at a distance.

As an apprentice and young warrior, she was rebellious and increasingly disillusioned with her parents’ ideals, especially once she began to grasp the devastation their conquest-driven contests left behind. Tensions finally boiled over when she was betrothed to a MustangClan warrior to reaffirm an alliance, an arrangement she flatly refused, already deeply involved with a town cat named Smokey, whom she openly adored.

Rather than submit, she chose defiance.

Though BoarClan lacks MustangClan’s obsession with ritual duels, challenges are still honored. Neither Sunstar nor Cougarstar would risk the disgrace of denying their daughter her right, particularly after she so brazenly challenged them both. In the gathering valley, BoarClan watched from the cliff sides as the three clashed in a savage fight. Dawngaze nearly fell when her throat was torn open, but with everything at stake, she forced herself onward. In the end, age betrayed her parents: she shattered her father’s leg and brutally overwhelmed her mother, claiming victory and her future in blood.

Despite her grim history, Dawngaze is a surprisingly cheerful leader!Outgoing, dramatic, and fiercely affectionate. She dotes equally on her five children (later six, once Raindrop joins them), and it is that all-consuming love that blinds her to Darkwater’s betrayal.

She is eventually succeeded by her eldest, Nightstride, and retires alongside her mate, Smokestar, who sheds the title and returns to simply being Smokey. Dawngaze remains immensely proud of every one of her children.

Aaannnd bonus fun trivia: In her original incarnation, Dawngaze played a much larger role in northern political intrigue. That plotline proved far too tangled to adapt, however, so in this version she limits her involvement to the events surrounding CoyoteClan.

i am chewin on your oc’s yum yum…. i really love stormrunner, is her stutter linked to some kind of anxiety disorder or is it something else? i have a stutter myself so it’s nice to see it in oc’s and stuff!!

Her anxiety disorder was worsened by the environment she grew up in. Her confidence was steadily eroded throughout her youth. Cariboucall treated her with open disdain, while Sheepfall’s idea of a “solution” was to force her daughter to toughen up. Instead, this pressure led Storm to develop a panic disorder. In TempestClan, this was met with hostility rather than understanding; her few public attacks were often interpreted as demonic possession, and the panic only escalated when multiple cats attempted to restrain her. Her mother, caretakers, and her brother, Harvestspirit, helped her hide them after a really bad 'exorcism' to avoid the stress.

Wolf is not a miracle worker, and helping the rebels does little to ease Stormrunner’s anxiety, but it does give her enough footing to begin rebuilding her confidence and taking small steps forward. That progress is shattered when she kills her brother, and everything unravels again.

She is happiest once she leaves the mountains behind and begins traveling. Exploring the world gives her a sense of freedom she never had before. She never loses her stutter and continues to live with a panic disorder, but she eventually reaches a place where she is no longer consumed by self-loathing because of it.
