One of my favorite little* things about Ginny and Georgia is that the Baker family always uses ASL when Clint is around.

Even when it's Marcus and Max talking to each other, even when Clint is not the one being addressed, he is included in the conversation. If their conversation can be heard, it can be seen.

Not once do they ever use Clint's Deafness against him. No verbal comments are made when his back is turned, no refusing to sign because it's "too much effort". Signing is a natural part of their conversation.

When communicating directly to Clint, Ellen often doesn't even speak. She uses solely ASL and I think that's really important.

I saw something once about how it’s not “women supporting women” it’s “women protecting women” because it doesn’t matter how much you hate her, if you see her in harm’s way you get her out of the way and i’ve never seen anything that encapsulates it more than “Ginny and Georgia” when Joe mentions to Cynthia that he thinks Georgia might be in trouble and then the next day she sees Gil putting hands on Georgia and she goes and pulls her away and then blacklists him in the Wellsbury realty community after they spent 17 episodes literally despising each other

No because first of all, Abby is the one who wanted to show her dad their dance in the first place. Max just did what any director would do and demanded the respect that their performance deserved. Second of all, I get that Ellen was just making conversation and she probably had seen that dance like 100 times at that point but I don’t care!! You can be quiet and pay attention for 2 MINUTES, to something your daughter and her friends worked hard on and want to show you (something ABBY actually wanted to show her dad!!!! And you talking is pulling HIS attention away from his daughter too). Basic Show Etiquette is not a new concept and saying “Max don’t have a tantrum” when she was literally only speaking directly and truthfully about the disrespect you just displayed would’ve sent me too. Cause now you’re making it seem like she’s overdramatic (in front of her friends and other company, mind you, so now she’s embarrassed too)

And as a kid you feel things much more amplified anyway. But to deal with feelings of embarrassment, disregard, invalidation, and flippancy from your PARENT, and to have that normalized toward YOU specifically?!?!?!
