The Bridge Incident

So I think I should write down what happened. The local police don't care, and Jeff and Laura say I shouldn't tell mom or dad. So I guess this is just me letting it all out.
So me Jeff and Laura went out to the old Railroad Bridge over the Skigwakmie River to do some bridge jumping.
Well I jumped in after Jeff because I think he's the coolest dude ever, despite being my brother.
And I hit the water and started swimming and like, couldn't come back up, I think my shoes or shorts or something got caught in the water. I swear to God, I thought I was done for because here I was caught on something. I started to fade out before somebody came up to me under the water.
I know just about all the adults by that bridge, even the guy in the hat, but this face I didn't recognize, but I was grateful to see her as she got whatever it was free letting me surface and seemed to push me up.
I was gasping when Jeff came over to see if I was OK. I mean even Laura looked worried.
And I told them about the new faced adult, and Jeff and Laura got quiet, and Jeff said we're going home, something about the place being too dangerous and that I shouldn't tell mom or dad.
Didn't say anything about Pete at the gas station, he just looked at me and said I was lucky and to not go back for a bit, and that he wouldn't worry our folks.
I mean what the fuckdid he mean when he said it was bad to annoy the dead and that I was lucky it was Shanna and not Baxter?
