Fasting that Pleases God

Isaiah 58:6 | Fasting that Pleases God

Is not this the fast that I have chosen: to break the chains of wickedness, to untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free & that you break off every yoke?

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, to bring the poor & homeless into your home, to clothe the naked when you see him, & not to turn away from your own flesh & blood? (v.7)

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, & your healing will come quickly. Your righteousness will go before you, & the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

Then you will call, & the LORD will answer; you will cry out, & He will say, ‘Here I am.’

If you remove the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger & malicious talk, & if you give yourself to the hungry & satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light will go forth in the darkness, & your night will be like noonday.

This whole week I’ve been sucked into gossip & darting the blame game; something I don’t remember having to deal with since grade school.

Unbelievable how powerless we are if we don’t focus on God & keep fellowship with Him. I want to please God & put Him first always.

Yesterday a lady spread a malicious lie about me to all my colleagues, & my boss insisted I not argue with ‘customers,’ as though truth had no value—which I will never agree with.

The craziest part: My hands were stained with blood from removing my divacup, yet she accused me of not washing my hands after the fact I had it cleaned prior to her coming out of her stall (public bathroom).

RE: Today’s Bible passage: Isaiah 59:1-21 | Separation from God Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have built barriers between you & your God, & your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear. For your hands are stained with blood, & your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, & your tongue mutters injustice. No one calls for justice; no one pleads your case honestly. They rely on empty pleas; they tell lies; they conceive mischief & give birth to iniquity. They hatch the eggs of vipers & weave a spider’s web. Whoever eats their eggs will die; crack one open, & a viper is hatched.

But like I said, I wasn’t keeping up with my devotionals with God & started down a path of lust & all kinds of evil thoughts. So quite possibly a word of warning for me to get right with God.

I will continue to search & fight for truth, with God at my side.

Besides: ‘The fish rots from the head down,’ & in my mind that ties in with how we treat God. If God isn’t our priority, everything else falls apart; there's no use striving, we will fail miserably until we make things right with God.

In the end, God taught me a valuable lesson:

Never piss Him off by doubting His Word. God is not a liar!

Numbers 23:19 | God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the Son of Man, that He should repent: has He said, & shall He not do it? or has He spoken, & shall He not make it good?

Titus 1:2 | In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

Hebrews 6:18 | That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

Romans 3:3-4 | What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God’s faithfulness? 4 Absolutely not! Let God be TRUE & every man a liar. As it is written: “So that You may be justified in Your words, and prevail in Your judgments.”
