Join us October 3rd at 8am to Chant Down the Walls! The Los Angeles Detention Center will be surrounded by a convoy of dozens of tractor trailers and cars driven by members of the Teamsters union who will could be threatened by deportation if the courts don’t stop the termination of end of their Temporary Protected Status (TPS) or Congress doesn’t act to pass permanent protections. Hundreds of Los Angeles port drivers who transport merchandise and goods every day are among the 300,000 workers with TPS demanding seeking action for permanent protections and a path to citizenship. On Wednesday, October 3rd, they will demonstrate the contribution they make to this country and the urgency with which they need Congress to act, including the Representatives from Los Angeles to co-sponsor the Secure Act in the Senate and the American Promise Act in the House. After rallying at the downtown detention center, the drivers will caravan out to the port where they will hold a rally on the third day of their strike.
