We just had a floor event last night (Popcorn with the PoPo) and learned some tips that I thought would be useful to pass along for yall to know.
For those of you who have been taught to weave your car keys in between your fingers as a means of protection, THAT IS WRONG. Weaving your keys between your fingers is not a good way to protect yourself. Your attacker can easily just grab the keys (as it’s not a secure hold) and end up breaking your wrist or twisting the keys out. Instead, hold onto your key like you would a knife -- ready to stab as hard as you can.
Aim for the eyes -- If they can’t see they can do nothing. Even the strongest wrestler goes down once they get poked in the eye. If you don’t have an object, use your thumbs. Eyes are soft like Jell-O and so sensitive.
Be aware of your surroundings. If the attacker has a gun and you don’t want to get near them, throw things. Our policeman pointed out everything in our room that we could use as a defense if he was the attacker. Hit him over the head with the microwave. There are a ton of pop cans, start throwing. Since they are full they will feel like rocks, we could stone him with Pepsi products if we all began throwing together. One could knock him out if thrown hard enough. Take the glue bottle, it has that pointy end right? Jab it in the eyes. Just be aware of your surroundings. Assess how to get out of bad situations in each place. Know your exits, know how to make a weapon if need be out of what is around you. Be safe peeps.
