Online communities -- are they actually real? Can they be a thing? I've experienced people telling me that the answer is "no" -- that only real, face-to-face communities count, and that it's damaging when people don't have those. I think that this is necessarily so, as is demonstrated by my friends & associates right here on Tumblr, though I do think that face-to-face interaction is in fact important. I just think that you need both, especially if you face any kind of isolation where you are physically located (for example: I have yet to find my people here in my very small, very conservative town). What do you think?
