The house across the street was sold again.  That little family before had stayed longer than most.  They had survived four months before getting the hell out.  Alice attributed it to their ghostly neighbors next door.

It had been there ever since she could remember, and as far as she could tell, no one had lived in it for longer than she had been alive.  Abandoned for years, but untouched.  Time stood still behind the iron-gated fence.  So cliche, but unnervingly true.  The house was on the opposite side of the street from her, further down on the dead end road.  Ironic, really.

Her index finger pulled at the blinds from the middle so she could get a better peak at the moving van that pulled into the drive.
