Why do you not like the Eye Of Onyx?
alright, so this is actually a branch of the Great Tree of Why I Don't Like How Animus Magic was Handled in Wings of Fire. but we'll hug that trunk in due time. first and foremost, I believe that the Eye of Onyx was a lazy cop-out for choosing the next SandWing queen. don't get me wrong, it's a cool concept! but I don't think it can be implemented in a way that's helpful to the story and to the goal it was trying to reach. what exactly that goal was is unclear, but I know it didn't have anything to do with using animus magic to solve all our problems. Especially since the Dragonets of Destiny already had a plan to figure out who was going to become the new queen, and that was to have the SandWings vote for it. that's literally what the original plan was going to be, but it was completely done away with, which is something I'm still upset about because of how much potential it had for an even more excellent ending, plus the fact that it even had a really satisfying build-up!! think about it. the concept of vote to make a decision was introduced in The Lost Heir, book two, when Tsunami was in Coral's council meeting. she thought that the idea was ridiculous, but i think it began to make enough of an impact on her that near the end of the book, she introduced the concept to the other DoD while they were in the eel prison. i think that would've been a really nice precursor to the final night of the SandWing Succession, where the votes are cast for the three sisters and almost none of the SandWings want any of them, and the very, very few voters for each of the princesses are in equal amount. it's a troubling moment, because everyone realizes that none of the blood candidates for the throne are the right choice, none of them are suitable for the throne. and then, at that moment, a SandWing speaks up. the very same SandWing that Sunny encountered earlier in the Scorpion Den who's son was starving, and says that she believes that Thorn should be a candidate for the throne, as she's been jut as much of a leader as each of the 3 princesses, if not even more so, even though her reign has been much shorter. she has Burn's military prowess, Blister's strategy, and even more of Blaze's youth, so her reign would not only be effective and sound, but would last for a respectable amount of time. She has the leadership experience, and it's been shown to be something that reaps good fruit. This leads to the most favorable vote from the SandWings so far, which means that Thorn, by favor of the SandWings, is now their Queen. what happens after that is for another post, however. I've already gotten way off-track. but do you see how much better that would have been? the laying down of a foundation for unity? the most unity seen in the SandWings in 20 years. it wasnt ended artificially by some magic amulet, it was ended by a unified decision, a final say from the tribe that the war was started for in the first place. but no. magic necklace explodes evilest sister and chooses the next queen for everyone because it's convenient. like a chump.
what do you thibk of lost lace/hornet tentacle sex..
