The Degrassi: Showdown "Bite Your Tongue" promo was so good fuck
Rewatching Degrassi S12
Omg!!! omg!!! omg!!! I miss this season. Will always be my favorite season. Eclare finally at a good place! Drianca finally together! (Hipster: Kiss) My baby boy Campbell Saunders is alive and well! Adam Torres & Becky Baker are my life! We got Jatie & Fimogen! The storylines! Suicide, Hockey Team, Romeo & Jules, Asher...just ahh! I am in love right now.!
I'm watching some episodes of Season 12 and wow it is truly amazing how much I simultaneously love the Romeo and Jules plot and really fucking hate that Eli was an actual unprofessional dick and outright forced the girl who did the vast majority of the work off of her project off of it and used her homophobia as a means to justify changing the thing and making her so uncomfortable that she felt she had to leave.
(and not to defend Becky's beliefs at the time because even though it was a product of upbringing it is still not cool in any way but her homophobia was not even remotely relevant to the situation (and you know what I know how it was supposed to come across (that she refused to cast him because he seemed gay) but honestly to me it seemed like she didn't cast Tristan for anything because he didn't fucking sing (If I remember correctly because I don't watch the 'Rape is Okay if it's Female on Male/Actual Literal Victim Blaming' week of Showdown) he spoke the song which it's a fucking musical and he didn't do that in the actual rehearsals or play honestly I wouldn't have cast him for anything either based on that audition. I honestly can't remember if she even MENTIONED her beliefs outside of that one instance and of course when Eli forced her out with his change to the play I don't think she did.)
And it wasn't even about standing up for the little guy it was pretty much only to piss off Becky and shove her out (because of his massive ego and the fact that she dared to not totally agree with him and the fact that she's standing her ground and taking the lead on HER OWN PROJECT) that was all he wanted and making himself a hero was just a douche-y bonus. In the end Eli got all the praise and credit for it and that pisses me off because she made it happen (I can't imagine Simpson being too eager to put on a play after the disaster of Love Roulette) and wrote the songs and did all this work only to have it stolen from her by an unprofessional brat under the guise of justice (when really it was because she was not licking his boots, praising his genius and stroking his ego). The worst part is that even when Eli was patronizing the shit out of her and being just the biggest prick she was still trying to be friendly and professional and SHE'S the bad guy.
Eli's lack of professionalism in the arts (and the praise he gets for things he doesn't deserve/leeway for shit he should have been punished for) is one of the biggest reasons I hate his guts. HE GOT INTO FUCKING NYU WITH WORK HE STOLE. NYU. (I just want to see him struggle SO HARD without someone to steal from or a stupid revenge fanfic to turn into a play and being surrounded by people who are more talented than him and won't take his crap and get exactly what he deserves...)
...
BUT... I guess for the importance to the season especially concerning Becky and Adam and the fact that I enjoyed the hell out of the parts of it shown in the season (the fact that everyone was so onboard with a play with a homosexual couple, Imogen's set designs which were nothing short of fantastic, the really good cast (though I still wish Bianca had been involved in some way (I wanted to see her artistic side utilized before she left in some way she's a dancer and an artist and possibly other things) eh, nitpick), the foreshadowing/undertones to BSS and credit where due Eli helping Dave get over his fear of being called gay was kinda really great) and those REALLY GREAT SONGS... I kinda have to just... give it a pass. (I mean I used to be annoyed at this entire plot because of what Eli did to Becky and what the fandom and the narrative allowed him to get away with but now I think I can take the amazing of this plot away from the "Eli" of it all and appreciate it (without excusing Eli's sheer fucktard-ery about it...)
I'm sure someone mentioned this before but the "glorified suicide" that almost stops "Romeo and Jules" from playing at Degrassi at the end of 12A when they knew that 12C would be begin with Cam's suicide. Talk about eerie foreshadowing...
Dang Alli is such a good friend. If it wasn't for her, Eli wouldn't have gone back to find the truth about Asher. She's def not Eli's number one fan but she always does everything for Eclare just 'cause she knows how Clare feels about him.
Please reblog/like if you post degrassi I will follow all! :D
At Degrassi Community School; anything can happen. Lies, secrets, and betrayal are as much part of the school as the classes themselves, and the student body seems to find new ways to add to the notoriety of the small school. Unfortunately Degrassi isn’t a real place, and the show has set plots and story lines we don’t have the opportunity to change… Or do we? Looks like you’re in luck today. This AU/Canon roleplay is set after the episode, ”Love Fool”, Anything after that is up for you to control. With there being no set ships, your fate could land anywhere.
