AU, where Jared wakes up in a reality where he just moved into town and never meet Evan.
In this universe, Evan and Zoe are childhood bestfriends. This version of Evan has less anxiety, is more confident, more open, plays in school jazz band, dresses better (thanks to Zoe) and even started dating Zoes brother: Connor.
He’s doing great at school, is “almost popular” and is genuinely having a time of his live.
And Jared is more confused than he ever been in his life. Not only because he needs to start developing his relationship with his only friend all over again, but he also finds himself falling more and more for those parts of Evan, that has always been there. The parts that he finally gets to see. Cuz Evan’s not hiding them anymore.
Okay, consider: Dear Evan Hansen Youtuber au. Connor is about 20 years old and has a youtube channel (”Disappearing Boy”). He records game plays and has a weird, vloggy type of content (Jenna Marbles style). He is fairly popular (about one million subscribers, he gains more with time). He mentions his boyfriend a couple of times but people are basically like: “Oh yeah, and he lives in Canada”. That is, until one time Evan shows ups on live stream asking why is Connor not in bed yet, completely unaware that they’re going live. Couple of fun facts about this au: -Evan is really scared of camera. And showing his face on the internet. But overtime he stops minding it so much. Or more like: He learns to ignore it. -Evan often calls Connor to dinner while he is recording (-I’m playing a video game! -So pause it! -Its an online game! YOU CANT PAUSE IT!) So Connor almost always is eating something on his videos (”Connor Murphy is eating for ten hours straight”) -Evan comments all of his videos, even if its just: “Can’t watch it cuz horror games gives me anxiety but i’m sure you did great love uuuu” -Zoe often appears on his channel, cuz she likes all the attention and they record weird vlogs together (”My sister paints my nails and we talk about life for 30 minutes”) -Jared was leaving mean and inappropriate comments on all of Connor social medias. He has a shadow ban on all of them now. Still has no idea, still tries. -Heidi watches Connors channel and is basically 1# fan. She also leaves comments. (Heidi under a horror game video: Haha, u know whats really scary? 13-hour shift at a hospital :)))!!! Connor: Mom, are you ok? Like, mentally?) -(Connor calls Heidi ‘mom’ FIGHT ME) -Sometimes Connors just stops talking in middle of live, cuz Evan’s singing in the shower very loudly (and oh boy, CAN HE SING) and he wants everyone to just listen -Connor posts on his Instagram things like: “Took this photo of my bf at a park. I asked if i can upload it. He said no one will like it. Make its my most liked post.” -Evan is often doing weird shit in the background of Connors videos. Like walking around the room and touching every plant (and you guessed it: they have a lot of them) individually and kinda petting them. When people started asking, what the fuck he was doing, Connor answered: “He’s saying ‘goodbye’ to them. He is leaving for work and doesn’t want them to be upset” -”Evan Hansen and Connor Murphy being cute for 30 minutes straight”
