Hey, I looked through the tags, FAQ, and some asks and I didn't find anything (I'm really sorry if I just missed it) but I was wondering if anyone has information on any gods or goddesses associated with fashion? Beauty in general is okay, but geared specifically more towards luxury and clothing would be cool. I'm really just looking for some deities with interests related to mine, so if anyone knows anything that would be so cool

I can think of a number of weavers and spinners from different religious groups, but not of fashion specifically.  ‘Beauty’ tends to get lumped in with love and lust, and luxury seems to coincide often with prosperity and fertility.  It may be easier if you found a religion whose structure and ideals suited you, and then looked for a deity: deities often overlap in what we consider ‘domains,’ the differences being in how each deity approaches a particular subject.  For example, Ares and Athena are from the same group and have war associations, but they go about war in very different ways for different reasons.  A deity who usually has nothing to do with fashion may take an interest in yours if your purpose for it matches up with the deity’s interests; it may be that a deity who is more conventionally associated with weaving in the ‘household industry’ sense could be perfect for you because they not only have the textile thing but also prosperity and comfort (i.e. luxury) of the home as a priority.  Does that make sense?  So ask yourself:

Why do I want a relationship with a deity or deities?

To what extent do I currently want religion to be a part of my life?

Is there a religion I feel interested in already, and does its structure and priorities match my life/resources/needs/goals?

What deities seem to share my interests, at least in essence if not in literal form?

Alternately, perhaps you might look at entities other than deities.  What about the fae, with their tricksiness and fondness of shinies and glamours?  (As an Irish polytheist I tend to have a kneejerk reflex against inviting the Good Folk in any further than they already are, but YMMV and “fae” covers an enormous category of beings.)  Are there household or ancestral spirits who share your interests, especially ancestors of tradition - the designers or weavers or fabulous queens who came before you?  (A Dionysian friend of mine who’s queer and big on aesthetic works extensively with the queer and activist dead.)  Determining to what extent you want to engage in religious practice, in what ways, and especially for what reasons may make entities other than deities more effective allies.

I’m sorry I can’t give you a detailed list, but I hope this helps you find a fruitful direction.  Does anyone have anything to add?

What deity or entity is associated with frogs?

I had a frog bounce into my room. Don't k ow how common that was and it came out no where ...stupidly im curious if anything or anyone is associated with frogs

HelloI have been studying witchcraft for awhile and lately I've been feeling a God's presence and I think he is the God of Death.Can you guys give metips or are there any blogs that can help me learn more how to worship him and how to know him better

But seriously, we need more information. Nearly every culture has their own personification of death, and going about worship would depend on what culture you are looking to worship in.

Yesterday, I decided that I would take the first step towards attempting to receive a patron deity. I sat in my room, with the window open and the moon in full view. I prayed that a god show themselves to me and then meditated for a while, clearing my head. The first symbol I seemed to receive was the image of the face of an albino wolf. have you any idea if there is a specific deity this is linked to?

It really depends on whether the wolf was albino (missing pigmentation including red eyes) or white. Just for simplicity:

Anubis is commonly associated with dogs/canines but is generally seen as a black figure. 

Wepwawet is another Egyptian wolf god

Artemis, goddess of the hunt, is associated with white/snowy or gray wolves.

Apollo has some associations with wolves.

You may also have contacted the spirit of the white wolf with it wanting to tell you something or teach you some lesson, it may not necessarily be a god/goddess’s symbol.

I’m gunna go ahead and also suggest looking into Fenrir, who is a literal wolf in Norse polytheism. I’ll also throw in some wolves and wolf-associated entities I know of top of my head, though they’re not necessarily associated with a specific white or albino wolf:

Tyr, god of war & courage and such, fed Fenrir & lost his hand

Hati & Skoll, wolf brothers who chase the Sun & Moon

Geri & Freki, wolf companions to Odin

 Some of these are not gods, technically, but Norse definition of a “god” can get tricky, anyhow. 

On slim occasion I have seen Skadi, a giantess and goddess of hunting, skiing, winter, and such be shown with or around wolves but having yet found evidence in lore connecting her to wolves, I feel it’s more a modern approach or aesthetic. Added her anyway, just in case.

Ahh, sorry they’re mostly Norse ahah. Like Tema said, could also be a totally different spirit, not necessarily a known god or goddess.

I’d recommend also requesting for assistance on finding the spirit’s name, such as requesting their help while you research to find out their identity or doing a bit of divination.

I'm having major trouble finding a deity and/ or deity. Help?

Please be a little more specific as the sources and help we would provide vary depending on the god/ess you are specifically looking for.

Figure out what you’re looking for in a deity, first, ifpossible. You can either look for a pantheon you are drawn to, or a very basicconcept. Norse, Greek, Roman, Sumarian, etc. Or Love, Death, Dreams, Night,etc. Keep in mind that these things are not the entirety of a deity, but it’shelpful to know where to start, at least. 

If you look into a Pantheon, look into the generalizedhistory of its worshipers, rituals, the way they did things, see if it appealsto you before you get into the deeper, more detailed stuff.

If you get into looking for a specific concept, look intowhat other things a deity of that Concept would be a part of. There are gods ofdeath and there are gods of specific kinds of death, and there are gods of the dead, gods of sacrifice, and soon for death alone.

It is perfectly okay to dabble in communicating with gods toget to know them before beginning a proper relationship. Worshiping a deity isnot inherently an oathbound thing unless you make it oathbound. You can also work with or for a deity without worshiping them. You can break off yourconnection with a deity if you so choose, but how to do so depends on thedeity.

You can start off with working with a nature deity and end upworshiping a death deity – be it the same deity or a totally different one, oreven end up worshiping a whole lotof deities even if you intended to only worship one or two.

Deity Hunt Day 1

So I've been trying to figure out my own personal pantheon.  Besides Hela, who I have worked closely with for years now, I have felt other deities are calling to me and an trying to figure out who.  I think right now there are 3, and have proceeded with that in mind.  (Also, I'm purposely excluding the local land spirits because while I am close with many of them, they aren't the sorts of spiritual entities I'm trying to identify.)

I found this amazing blog post outlining a potential way to do his with tarot,  and decided to modify it for my own needs.  This post is going to be long and image heavy, so the rest of it is below a cut.  I'd love to hear your thoughts and if you find my readings relate to deities you know or work with.

I chose to split the cards into the major and minor arcana, drawing one of each to help me identify the archetype and the specific traits of each deity.

Archetype: The Emperor 

Stability, grounding,  limits

This is going to be a powerful deity, likely the head of their pantheon.  They may also be intimidating and stern at first glance.

6 of Cups 

Kindness, innocence, childhood

This is a relationship based on kindness and trust rather than authority and obedience. 

This reminds me a lot of my relationship with my grandfather. He always has good advice and smart ideas, but never tries to force his opinions and ways of doing things on me.  This deity is likely to want to nurture me in similar ways.

Archetype: Death

Endings, transformation,  regeneration

Rest, reflection, internal observation

HI Hela!  I don't even have to really break this down to see her in this reading.  Honestly it's quite comforting to see her so clearly written out.   She's been a grounding force reminding me to focus on my internal balance and that my struggles are my primary source of strength and fortitude rather than something to be ashamed of.  My pain is a constant source of renewal.

Inner strength, overcoming obstacles

Serving my own needs, deception, gathering information

This is another one that I don't feel needs a lot of breaking down to know who this is.  I've had a feeling Loki has been speaking to me, and this pairing of cards seems to point directly to his presence in my life.  Combining that with the fact that I work with his daughter makes this almost certain to me.
